Creative Director, Content & Brand – define and protect Adoorn’s creative voice while leading storytelling and creative direction across the brand’s content ecosystem, including the flagship YouTube franchise.
Responsibilities
Brand Creative Direction (Adoorn-wide)
You are the creative leader responsible for shaping how Adoorn looks, feels, and communicates across every customer touchpoint.
- Define and evolve Adoorn’s creative vision, tone, and aesthetic.
- Ensure brand consistency across paid media, e‑commerce, retail, lifecycle, social, and product storytelling.
- Lead concept development for major moments such as seasonal campaigns, product launches, and retail initiatives.
- Establish creative systems and standards that enable the marketing team to scale output without diluting brand quality.
- Partner closely with the VP of Brand Marketing to translate strategy into compelling creative expression.
- Provide clear creative direction to designers, editors, creators, and external partners.
Content & YouTube Franchise Creative Leadership
Adoorn’s long‑form content franchise will be a major engine for brand discovery and storytelling.
- Define the creative north star for the series: format, tone, pacing, storytelling structure, and visual language.
- Shape episode concepts, story arcs, and transformation moments.
- Direct host and on‑camera talent to deliver authentic, engaging storytelling.
- Guide the visual and narrative style of episodes, ensuring the show feels premium and distinctive.
- Collaborate with editors and producers to ensure strong storytelling and pacing in post‑production.
- Help define the broader content ecosystem: Shorts, social cut‑downs, and supporting content derived from each episode.
Creative Direction for Production & Shoots
- Direct shoots and guide what is captured to ensure strong storytelling and brand alignment.
- Provide creative direction for set design, composition, lighting, and framing.
- Direct talent, homeowners, and contributors on camera.
- Ensure key story beats, design decisions, and reveal moments are captured effectively.
- Maintain quality standards even when working within real‑world constraints.
Creative Systems & Content Ecosystem
- Establish creative frameworks and templates for campaigns and content.
- Define how hero content translates into paid media, social, lifecycle, and e‑commerce storytelling.
- Set standards for thumbnails, titles, and visual packaging for YouTube and social.
- Ensure the brand maintains a clear and consistent visual identity as output increases.
Creative Iteration & Performance Learning
- Provide creative feedback on edits, pacing, and story clarity.
- Partner with the marketing team to evaluate content performance signals.
- Identify patterns in what resonates with audiences and refine formats accordingly.
- Maintain brand quality while adapting formats based on learnings.
Success in First 90 Days
- A clear creative vision for Adoorn that strengthens brand cohesion across channels.
- The YouTube franchise has a defined creative identity and repeatable storytelling format.
- The team has a clearer creative system for campaigns and content.
- Early episodes demonstrate strong storytelling and brand alignment.
- Designers, editors, and creators have clear creative guidance that improves output quality.
Qualifications
- 7–12 years leading creative in a brand, studio, or media environment.
- Strong experience directing video storytelling or content series.
- Deep understanding of how to create YouTube‑native content (hooks, pacing, audience retention).
- Ability to direct talent and real people on camera with warmth and confidence.
- Strong instincts for design, visual storytelling, and brand aesthetics.
- Comfortable operating in a startup environment where ideas move quickly.
- Bonus: experience in home, design, lifestyle, or transformation content.
- Bonus: experience in creator or influencer ecosystems.
- Bonus: launching or scaling digital video franchises.
Requirements
- Chicago‑based or willing to relocate; role is 5 days on site.
- Ability to travel for production.
- Portfolio demonstrating creative leadership and video storytelling work.
- Strong written communication skills for briefs, scripts, and creative feedback.
- Comfortable directing shoots in real‑world environments.
