Job Summary
The Finance & Business Services Director, reporting to the AVP for Finance & Deputy CFO, manages the unit and directs financial and business operations for Texas A&M University.
Responsibilities
Develop strategic plans for the unit.
Serve on departmental leadership teams.
Direct unit staff, setting performance standards and accountabilities.
Ensure programs, activities, and services comply with University, State, and Federal regulations.
Provide input and guidance into the budget and fiscal operations of the unit.
Develop and seek funding for programs to promote unit mission.
Oversee communications, promotions, and public relations for units.
Develop and implement unit programs.
Serve on various university, division, and departmental committees and represent the department at state and national associations.
Provide high‑level financial oversight and track financial commitments and related accounts for sound fiscal management and accountability.
Ensure compliance with university policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements across financial and business operations.
Support strategic decision‑making by providing guidance on budget, fiscal operations, and resource allocation.
Lead and support projects and initiatives related to academic financial planning with senior leadership.
Coordinate and administer key institutional processes, including the Faculty Hiring Cycle (search projections, startup allocations, and faculty line claims).
Drive strategic planning efforts by aligning unit initiatives with university priorities and advancing organizational goals.
Identify and implement process improvements and standardization initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
Collaborate with College Assistant Deans of Business Services to promote consistency and standardization of business processes.
Oversee and contribute to communications to ensure alignment with university messaging and strategic priorities.
Manage special projects in support of the Offices of the Provost and Faculty Affairs.
Review financial components of faculty offer letters, administrative appointments, and related requests to ensure accuracy and alignment with university standards.
Support compliance with university policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements across financial and business‑related activities.
Support the Associate VP for Academic Financial Strategy in the coordination and execution of projects and initiatives related to academic financial planning.
Assist with the administration of key processes, including elements of the faculty hiring cycle.
Assist with communications and representation for the unit.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ten years of related experience.
Requirements and Factors
This position is security sensitive.
This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules, and procedures.
All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements.
Salary
Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.
