Overview
Our client is seeking a Creative Developer to join a design-focused technology team dedicated to building tools, applications, and automation solutions that empower creative teams to work more efficiently at scale. This role combines software development expertise with a passion for design, enabling the creation of innovative workflows, automation systems, and content production tools that support large-scale digital media experiences.
The ideal candidate has experience developing web applications and/or native macOS applications, a strong understanding of creative production workflows, and a genuine appreciation for design and user experience. This individual will collaborate closely with designers, creative technologists, and cross-functional teams to build tools that streamline processes, automate repetitive tasks, and unlock new creative possibilities.
Responsibilities
Software & Tool Development
Design, build, and maintain web-based and native macOS applications that improve creative production workflows.
Develop automation tools that reduce manual effort and increase efficiency for creative and production teams.
Create scalable solutions that support high-volume content creation and asset management processes.
Prototype and implement innovative tools that enhance design and media production workflows.
Workflow Automation
Build integrations and automation solutions that connect creative tools, content platforms, and internal systems.
Utilize APIs and data services to retrieve, process, transform, and distribute creative assets.
Develop scripts, services, and utilities that streamline repetitive production tasks.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and workflow optimization.
Creative Technology Support
Develop plugins, extensions, and services for creative applications such as:
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe After Effects
Sketch
Support ongoing maintenance and enhancement of creative tooling ecosystems.
Troubleshoot issues and implement improvements based on user feedback.
Product Maintenance & Documentation
Maintain existing software applications and ensure compatibility with new operating system and software releases.
Create and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and support materials.
Manage software releases, version control, and deployment processes.
Monitor application performance and address bugs, enhancements, and feature requests.
Collaboration & Partnership
Partner closely with designers, creative teams, product stakeholders, and engineering partners.
Gather requirements, provide technical guidance, and translate creative needs into effective solutions.
Support team members by answering questions, troubleshooting issues, and providing technical assistance.
Contribute to a collaborative and innovation-focused team environment.
Required Qualifications
Experience building applications using modern web technologies and frameworks such as React or similar platforms.
Strong proficiency with modern JavaScript and ECMAScript standards.
Experience with at least one server-side technology such as:
Node.js
Python
Experience working with RESTful APIs, JSON data structures, and web service integrations.
Understanding of HTTP protocols and client-server architecture.
Experience developing native macOS applications using Swift.
Experience with shell scripting using Bash, ZSH, or similar scripting environments.
Experience automating workflows within creative applications such as:
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe After Effects
Sketch
Familiarity with Git version control and repository management using platforms such as GitHub.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to design intuitive solutions for complex challenges.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to thrive in fast-paced, design-centric environments and quickly learn new technologies.
Passion for digital media, creative technology, and user experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with database technologies such as:
PostgreSQL
MongoDB
Experience building creative workflow automation systems.
Familiarity with content management platforms, media pipelines, or asset management systems.
Experience supporting design, media, entertainment, or content production organizations.
Knowledge of software distribution, release management, and deployment best practices.
Experience creating tools that support creative professionals and content creators.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Interactive Media, Design Technology, or a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
