Transmission Line Design Engineer / Technician in Saint Louis

Overview
As a Transmission Line Design Engineer/Technician, you will play a key role in determining right‑of‑way requirements, calculating conductor sags, and developing transmission line plan and profile drawings. You will review structural loading for both new and upgraded lines, develop staking sheets, provide construction support, and develop line routing.

Key Responsibilities
You will review structural loading for both new and upgraded lines, develop staking sheets, provide construction support, and develop line routing. Additionally, you will calculate conductor tension, sag, and structural loading for various environmental and operational conditions, select structures and structural components, and determine appropriate guying methods, grounding systems, and mechanical/electrical requirements.

Requirements

5+ years of experience (Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering not required).

Proficiency in PLS‑CADD / CAD software used to model transmission lines.

Proficiency in applying NESC standards to ensure safe and compliant overhead transmission line designs.

Previous experience applying traditional and software‑based methods to design transmission lines and structures up to 345 KV.

Experience calculating conductor tension, sag, and structural loading for various environmental and operational conditions.

Experience selecting structures and structural components and appropriate guying methods, grounding systems, and structural components based on mechanical and electrical requirements.

Strong communication skills.
