Photojournalist
to join our award-winning staff. Qualified candidates must be able to demonstrate proficiency in shooting and editing visually exciting content for television, social media, and our digital platforms under tight deadlines.
We are seeking an individual who is creative and can break the mold in traditional content gathering. This
photojournalist
must be able to gather and uniquely visualize content, both independently and as part of a team. They will also need to pitch unique story ideas regularly and help develop creative ways to cover news content and long‑form projects.
This candidate will need to work well with a team of award‑winning journalists and take constructive guidance from other top professionals in the industry.
In This Role, You Will
Safely and responsibly use and maintain company newsgathering equipment to craft compelling investigative stories, live shots, general news, sports, and feature stories for our broadcast, digital, and streaming platforms
Collaborate with a variety of news journalists daily to develop a comprehensive and cohesive vision for stories
Pitch strong, enterprise stories in daily content meetings
Utilize effective news judgment and troubleshooting skills to deliver creative content before deadlines
Represent KTVB and TEGNA professionally in a variety of public scenarios
Understand and adhere to the principles of ethical journalism
Edit stories using Edius, DaVinci Resolve & Adobe Premiere
Requirements
2-5 years of relevant experience in photojournalism and professional story editing
Possession of a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
The ability to lift camera gear up to 40 lbs. and occasionally up to 80 lbs., with or without accommodation
Flexibility to work mornings, nights, holidays, and weekends
Qualifications
FAA Part 107 Pilot’s license with experience operating a drone for newsgathering
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, After Effects, & Photoshop)
Competency in operating mirrorless cameras, gimbal cameras, and other specialized newsgathering equipment
