DC Thomsonis looking for anambitious,experienced reporter to join the live news team at The Press & Journal, leadingour Livecoverage in Inverness.
This role is for someone based in Inverness who knows their patch, understands theiraudienceand has the contacts to deliver breaking news and exclusives that set the agendaat an exciting and transformative time for the city.
Responsibilities
Break news quickly and confidently, owning major stories as they develop
Deliver a steady flow of high-quality exclusive stories rooted in strong local contacts
Use your contacts book to get ahead of rivals and uncover stories others miss
Follow through on stories, turning breaking news into deeper, agenda-setting coverage
Use data,SEOand audience insight to maximise reach and engagement
Build a visible presence in your patch and strong relationships with sources
Work across formats including text, live blogs,videoand audio
Support distribution through SEO, pushnotificationsand social media
We’re looking for
An experienced reporter with a strong local contacts book
A proven track record of breaking stories and delivering exclusives
Excellent news judgement and a clear understanding of audience priorities
Confidence working independently in a fast-paced live environment
A strong understanding of analytics, SEO and digital storytelling
The drive to compete, win stories and grow audience
High level understanding of Scots Law and IPSO Editors’ Code of Practice
