Job Summary
Organize and direct activities at the Information Desk and Switchboard in accordance with applicable administrative and regulatory requirements. Direct contact with the public via face‑to‑face and phone.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED, required.
Minimum 2 years of work experience.
Strong communication skills and the ability to positively interact with the public.
Customer relations, problem solving, proficiency with a switchboard/communications system, and computer use required.
Licenses and certifications not applicable.
Essential Functions
Customer Support: Provides prompt assistance to customers, ensuring their needs are met; answers all incoming calls promptly; greets customers with a warm welcome; assists callers using overhead paging systems per protocol; handles on‑call procedures for staff and physicians; maintains directories and files on active and discharged patients, including location, status, and other pertinent information.
Emergency Response: Responds to all emergencies in a timely manner and follows established protocols or codes; monitors the hospital-wide alarm panel, destructive weather alerts, fire alarms, and fire department notifications.
Technology and Equipment Use: Demonstrates technical skill in using equipment appropriate for the role; understands equipment operation; maintains the equipment in working order; troubleshoots equipment problems; uses technology to increase productivity and adapts to new technology.
Additional Duties
Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.
Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization.
Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions per departmental policies and procedures.
Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (self‑education, ongoing educational programs).
Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in‑services, requirements, and competency evaluations on time.
Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.
For non‑clinical areas, attends training and demonstrates usage of age‑specific customer service skills.
Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
