Join the Security team at Marshalltown Hospital as a Communications Representative and serve as an important connection point for patients, visitors, staff, and emergency responders. In this role, you'll help ensure calls, messages, pages, and urgent communications are handled accurately and efficiently.

This part-time weekend position is a great fit for someone who remains calm under pressure, communicates clearly, and enjoys helping others. You'll support both everyday hospital operations and emergency response efforts while working with a collaborative, service-focused team.

Responsibilities

Manage incoming calls, pages, and messages through the hospital switchboard
Direct communications to the appropriate departments, providers, and on-call staff
Prioritize urgent requests and support timely communication during emergencies
Assist patients, visitors, and team members with questions and general information
Monitor hospital alarm systems and relay critical information to emergency response teams
Coordinate interpreter and communication assistance services for patients and visitors
Maintain accurate contact lists, on-call schedules, and communication records
Troubleshoot basic telecommunications issues and report system concerns
Support emergency preparedness, incident command, and disaster response activities as needed
Contribute ideas that improve communication processes and service efficiency
Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent is required
Experience:

Experience as a secretary, receptionist, or customer service in a busy public office is preferred.
