Job Description

Position Title: Unit Director – Fort Mohave Unit

Reports To: Chief Professional Officer (CPO) / Executive Director

Classification: Non-Exempt, Full-Time

Pay Range: $16.00 – $19.50 per hour

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
Boys & Girls Clubs of the Colorado River provides a safe, positive, and engaging environment for youth in the Fort Mohave and Mohave Valley area. Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Unit Director is responsible for the overall leadership, daily operations, and program quality of the Fort Mohave Unit. This position ensures that Club members ages 5 to 17 experience the optimal Club experience – a safe, positive, and fun environment built on supportive relationships, meaningful opportunities, high expectations, and genuine recognition. The Branch Director directly supervises unit staff, coordinates program delivery, and plays a significant role in assisting with the organization and administration of BGCCR sports leagues, currently including basketball and volleyball.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Program & Youth Development

Plan, implement, and evaluate daily programs aligned with Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) core program areas: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character & Citizenship, and the Arts

Ensure programs meet the developmental needs of members ages 5–17 across all age groups served

Maintain a safe, structured, and engaging Club environment that promotes positive youth development and positive relationships between staff, members, and families

Monitor program outcomes and assist in maintaining accurate attendance, participation, and impact data

Respond promptly and appropriately to member behavior, incidents, and emergencies in accordance with organizational policy

Ensure compliance with BGCA standards, grant deliverables, and program benchmarks

Maintain consistent, engaging daily Facebook posts to keep families and the community informed of Club activities and events

Assist heavily in the planning, coordination, and execution of BGCCR sports leagues, currently basketball and volleyball

Other duties as assigned

Staff Supervision & Team Leadership

Direct and manage daily operations of the Fort Mohave site with primary responsibility for staff scheduling, supervision, and training

Conduct regular staff meetings, performance check-ins, and annual evaluations

Foster a team culture aligned with the Club's mission and values

Identify training and professional development opportunities for unit staff

Ensure staff-to-member ratios and supervision standards are maintained at all times

Document and elevate HR matters to the Chief Executive Officer in accordance with organizational policy and ARS Title 23

Membership & Administration

Maintain accurate records including daily attendance, incident reports, and program logs

Assist with grant reporting data collection as directed

Oversee daily opening and closing procedures, facility readiness, and safety checks

Communicate regularly with the Chief Executive Officer regarding program updates, staffing needs, and facility issues

Support organizational fundraising events and community outreach as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
Required

High school diploma or GED; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Human Services, Recreation, or a related field preferred

Minimum 2 years of experience working with youth in a structured program setting

At least 1 year of supervisory or team lead experience

Strong oral and written communication skills and demonstrated leadership ability

Proficiency in Google Drive and basic computing functions including typing, email, and web-based applications

Strong decision-making skills and the ability to manage frequent shifts in priorities and direction

Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check (Arizona Department of Public Safety) and drug screening

Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire

Valid Arizona driver's license and reliable transportation

Must be available Monday–Thursday 10:00 AM–6:00 PM and Friday 7:30 AM–6:00 PM

Preferred

Experience working in a Boys & Girls Club or similar youth-serving organization

Background or interest in youth sports administration

Familiarity with Boys & Girls Clubs of America programs

Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the ability to stand, walk, and move throughout program spaces for extended periods. The Branch Director may occasionally lift up to 30 pounds. Work is performed primarily indoors in a Club facility, with regular outdoor supervision responsibilities. The schedule follows the school year calendar with adjusted hours during school breaks and summer programming.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Pay Range: $16.00 – $19.50 per hour, commensurate with experience
