Team Overview

The AI Commercial team (AIC) is part of the Enterprise AI team (EAI), delivering AI strategy and coordinated commercial progress. It leads cross‑functional initiatives to transform commercial value and support lifesaving medicines.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Director, you will act as the embedded Translator between business functions and the AI Commercial organization. You will translate business needs into AI use cases, own the full lifecycle from ideation to decommissioning, and partner with technical experts to deliver measurable value.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy and portfolio ownership of new AI Commercial programs in partnership with business teams.
  • Act as single point of contact and engagement for AI Commercial capabilities programs at the Region level.
  • Translate needs into well‑scoped AI use cases with clear metrics, aligning with business strategy and AI30 focus areas.
  • Co‑lead solution delivery, oversee lifecycle management, pilot shaping, deployment, adoption, and value realization.
  • Lead change management and governance, embedding AI into operations, supporting AI literacy, ensuring data governance and compliance.
  • Spot and shape new enterprise initiatives by scanning internal and external trends and partnering with functional leaders.
  • Track industry, market, and innovation shifts to anticipate opportunities and risks.
  • Define KPI monitoring to evaluate progress and pivot when needed.

Accountabilities

  • AI Strategy and portfolio ownership
    • Serve as the single business owner for AI solutions in your therapy area, market, or function.
    • Maintain and sequence a clear AI roadmap aligned to business, medical, access, and R&D priorities.
    • Develop business cases and value narratives to support prioritization decisions.
    • Embed reuse principles (“build or buy once, scale to many”).
  • Translation of needs into AI use cases
    • Engage business leaders and cross‑functional teams to surface unmet needs.
    • Translate needs into well‑scoped AI use cases with success metrics, data requirements, and risk tiering.
    • Bilingual translation connecting business priorities, scientific context, and technology capabilities.
  • Delivery, scale, adoption and value tracking
    • Co‑lead delivery with enterprise AI teams to ensure solutions fit real workflows.
    • Own the full AI program lifecycle: pilot shaping, scaled deployment, local adoption, KPI tracking, ROI realization, remediation, or decommissioning.
    • Ensure correct evidence frameworks to measure value.
  • Change management and ways of working
    • Act as change leaders for AI embedding new practices into day‑to‑day operations.
    • Identify required process and role shifts and work with functional leaders to implement them.
    • Support AI literacy and upskilling via the AITO team and HR.
  • Data, governance and compliance point of contact
    • Partner with Enterprise Demand Excellence and AITT to ensure data is AI‑ready and compliant with standards.
    • Ensure each AI use case follows the enterprise governance framework: registry‑before‑scale, model and data cards, ongoing monitoring, human‑in‑the‑loop oversight when required.
    • Align with quality, legal, compliance, PV and safety requirements and local codes.
  • Deliver partnership and ecosystem
    • Co‑develop AI programs and delivery plans, ensuring business sponsorship from inception to scaling.
    • Build deep delivery relationships with Commercial AI and Global Business Services teams.
    • Integrate with enterprise AI organization, acting as the primary interface between your business area and CAI Capability teams.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years in professional pharma, with 5–7 years leading transformation programs in commercial pharma.
  • Deep commercial and scientific domain experience relevant to the business function and region.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills at all levels of the organization and matrixed environment.
  • Effective interpersonal and relationship management skills with a consultative approach.
  • Highly organized with operational effectiveness and follow‑through.
  • Financial acumen – understanding of forecasts, budgets, financial tools.
  • Resourceful, motivated, influential, proactive; ability to prioritize in a fast‑growing organization.
  • Experience with strategic planning processes, tools and/or project management tools.

Desired Qualifications

  • Graduate degree (MBA, masters, MD or PhD preferred).
  • Experience in leading and managing alliances or strategic partnerships.
  • Experience translating business needs into coordinated business proposals for senior leadership.
  • Ability to develop creative and simple solutions to complex problems.
