Job Summary
The Director of Sales has direct oversight of sales operations for the hotel. This role is responsible for achieving optimal occupancy and ADR growth to maximize total revenue while meeting or exceeding hotel profit objectives. The incumbent will oversee the hotel sales department—including direct sales, follow‑up, sales administration, hiring, training, management, and coaching. Additional responsibilities include sales and marketing budgeting, forecasting, advertising, marketing, and business planning within approved plans and budgets.
Job Duties and Functions
Coordinate all group, transient, and catering sales solicitations and bookings to maximize overall revenue.
Develop, recommend, implement, and manage the division’s annual budget and advertising, public relations, marketing, and sales plans and programs to maximize rate, occupancy, and food and beverage opportunities, ensuring the hotel meets or exceeds management and owner revenue and profit goals.
Proactively conduct outside sales calls, sales tours, and client entertainments.
Understand contract content and negotiate terms.
Develop and maintain market awareness to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategies.
Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate market trends.
Adhere to Rebel Hotel Company regulations, company standards, sales standards, and related metrics.
Comply with attainment of individual goals, team goals, and budgeted metrics.
Train all hotel staff to recognize and capitalize on sales opportunities to increase occupancy and revenue.
Develop full working knowledge of hotel operations and policies, including Sales, Food and Beverage, Front Office, and Reservations.
Maintain strong visibility in the local community and industry organizations.
Attend and/or conduct daily, weekly, monthly meetings and other functions required by management, providing training as needed.
Maintain professional relationships and promote open communication to achieve initiatives with marketing partners and internal departments.
Travel weekly as required.
Act on behalf of the General Manager when absent and perform other duties as requested by management.
Position Requirements – Education and Experience
Preferred: at least two years of progressive hotel sales experience; or a four‑year college degree and at least one year of related experience; or a two‑year college degree and at least two years of related experience.
Highly developed verbal and written communication skills for negotiating, selling, and influencing guests and corporate clients.
Proficient in professional selling skills: opening, probing, supporting, closing.
Strong analytical skills and strategic vision for sales deployment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer knowledge.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong organizational and presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to interact with and manage diverse teams and solve complex problems.
Advanced knowledge of sales, marketing, and hospitality principles and practices.
Ability to handle stressful, high‑pressure situations with composure.
Understanding of financial information and basic arithmetic functions.
