Marching Band Director
Position Summary:
The Marching Band Director is responsible for leading, organizing, and managing all aspects of the marching band program. This includes designing and implementing performances, coordinating rehearsals, supervising students, and collaborating with school staff, parents, and community members to foster excellence in music education and performance. The director promotes school spirit, teamwork, and musical growth among students while ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, and conduct marching band rehearsals, performances, and competitions.
Select and arrange music appropriate for the skill level of the band.
Design and/or oversee drill and choreography for marching band performances.
Teach and develop students' instrumental and marching skills.
Coordinate with assistant directors, staff, and student leaders to maintain high standards of musicianship and discipline.
Organize and lead band camp and additional rehearsals outside of school hours.
Manage band finances, including budgeting for music, instruments, uniforms, travel, and equipment.
Maintain and inventory band equipment, uniforms, and instruments.
Recruit and retain students, encouraging participation and growth in the music program.
Foster positive relationships with students, parents, faculty, and the community.
Oversee travel arrangements, schedules, and logistics for games, competitions, and events.
Ensure all performances align with school standards and represent the program positively.
Stay current with trends in marching band performance and pedagogy.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field (Master's preferred).
PA teaching certification in Music Education.
Strong background in instrumental music, marching band techniques, and music education.
Proven leadership and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Experience with drill writing software, music arranging, or related technology (preferred).
Previous marching band instruction or directing experience (preferred).

Effective classroom and rehearsal management.
Creativity in show design and music selection.
Organizational and logistical planning.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed.

1-2 years experience - $438.00
3, 4, 5 years experience - $475.00
6 years & over experience - $510.00
