MissionHires is seeking a Vice President of Commercial Construction to lead end-to-end construction operations for a growing commercial contractor. This executive will own the Construction segment P&L, set operational strategy, oversee estimating and preconstruction, drive field execution excellence (safety, schedule, quality, productivity), and build high-performing teams. The VP will implement disciplined operating rhythms, strengthen financial stewardship, manage risk, and collaborate across sales, finance, and field leadership to deliver profitable growth and exceptional customer outcomes.

Responsibilities

Partner with the Executive Team to define and execute the commercial construction strategy that drives profitable growth and field excellence

Lead day-to-day construction operations to meet safety, schedule, quality, productivity, and customer commitments across all projects

Oversee estimating and preconstruction, including bid strategy, scope reviews, takeoffs/pricing, risk/opportunity assessment, value engineering, and operational handoff

Establish operating rhythms, KPIs, and reporting (safety, schedule performance, productivity, change order cycle time) to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement

Direct resource planning for labor, equipment, and subcontractors; optimize utilization and procurement to control costs and maintain capacity

Champion quality and contract execution, strengthen CPM/critical path schedule management, and proactively manage RFIs, submittals, and changes

Lead the segment safety program, including training, audits, incident prevention, and regulatory compliance; foster a culture of safety and accountability

Own Construction P&L; develop strategic/tactical plans to meet revenue, margin, and EBITDA targets

Lead forecasting, budgeting, and monthly financial reviews; analyze variances and implement corrective actions

Collaborate with the CFO on capex, cash flow, and expense controls; ensure disciplined financial stewardship

Oversee job costing, change management, and project financial controls to protect margin and reduce rework

Develop and maintain executive relationships with owners, customers, and strategic partners to expand opportunities and retention

Partner with Sales on pursuit strategy and go
o-go decisions; lead executive bid reviews for scope clarity, risk pricing, and operational feasibility

Drive customer satisfaction through proactive communication, issue resolution, and post-project reviews

Ensure a strong preconstruction-to-operations handoff and consistent delivery experience

Build, mentor, and develop leaders; set clear expectations, cadence, and accountability across teams

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)

5+ years of progressive commercial construction leadership with multi-project or regional oversight and P&L responsibility

Proven leadership of estimating/preconstruction including bid strategy, scope review, and transition of awarded work into operations

Strong knowledge of safety programs, construction means and methods, scheduling, contracts, and regulatory compliance

Ability to lead safety performance through training, auditing, and accountability

Proficiency with project and financial reporting tools; strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills

Preferred certifications: OSHA 30 (or equivalent), CCM/PE, LEED AP, or comparable commercial construction credentials

Valid driver’s license with ability to travel to job sites; clean driving record preferred
