Job Description and Position Requirements
Penn State Conferences and Institutes (C&I) seeks a Program Coordination Intern to assist with the logistical planning of non‑credit educational programs such as camps, workshops, and conferences. The intern will partner with C&I staff to develop and deliver educational programs for adults and youth, manage on‑site program activities, and support program operations.
Coordinate registrations, poster sessions, exhibits, receptions, lunches, activities, and dinners for summer programs.
Attend staff and partner meetings, assist with various tasks and projects, and learn the planning process behind successful programs.
Maintain program schedules, assist with communication, organize information, and identify solutions to logistical issues.
Applicants should have an interest in event, meeting, recreation, or program management. Prior planning experience is beneficial but not required. Strong communication, organizational, research, and problem‑solving skills are essential.
Internship Details
The internship typically runs 10–12 weeks, with summer terms from mid‑May to late July and fall terms from September to mid‑December. Start and end dates may be adjusted to accommodate academic or personal schedules.
Hours are approximately 20 per week, with some weekend and evening work required during programs. This is a paid internship with a rate of $15 per hour.
Professional Development
Interns will develop NACE competencies, including communication, critical thinking, teamwork, technology, leadership, professionalism, career and self‑development, and equity & inclusion. A free, non‑credit, 8‑week Canvas mini‑course will be provided for reflection and growth.
Background Checks/Clearances
Applicants must obtain PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
