The University of Iowa’s Office of Performing Arts and Engagement communications department is hiring a Marketing Coordinator. The office leads marketing and communication efforts for the UI’s performing arts campus including Department of Dance, Department of Theatre Arts, Hancher Auditorium, School of Music, and the overall Performing Arts at Iowa brand.

In this position, you will help create, develop, support, and execute a variety of marketing and communications tasks to reach target audiences including potential students, staff, and faculty; current members of the university community; and patrons and donors from around the community and beyond.

This is a 100%, three-year specified term appointment.

Opportunities in this role

Assist with data collection for monthly department reports.

Manage reminder and response emails for patrons attending events.

Assist with website edits and additions.

About the Department
Hancher and the Office of Performing Arts and Engagement is a university arts presenter with over 50 years of history, housed in a facility opened in 2016. Presenting 80+ events annually across dance, music, theater, comedy & multidisciplinary projects, Hancher brings artists to the University of Iowa campus and the wider Eastern Iowa community. Hancher reports to the Office of Performing Arts and Engagement within the Office of the Provost, which oversees Hancher, stewards collaboration across the UI performing arts campus, and assists with overall development of the UI's creative campus.

Required Qualifications
Education (or equivalency) Required
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience providing a comparable level of expertise (experience equivalency equals an AA degree and 2 years additional experience or 4 additional years of experience).

Experience Required

Some (6 months to a year) working in communications, marketing, or related field, or multiple related internships for a recent college graduate.

Effective written and oral communications.

Relationship and team building experience including working within one or more creative team(s).

Adaptability in a fast-paced environment and an ability to take initiative, work creatively, and collaborate.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with one or more communications roles including copywriting, graphic design, videography/photography, media/content creation, etc.

Experience with digital advertising, tracking, and analytics—including experience working with Google Analytics.

Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems, building, tracking, and segmenting populations.

Basic familiarity with online sharing and communications tools like Asana, Slack, SharePoint, etc.

Basic familiarity with AI and its implementation.

Demonstrable interest in the performing arts as patron, artist, or a combination of the two.

Work Modality
