Job Summary
Alaska's News Source is looking for a hands‑on Sr. Executive Producer to drive editorial strategy and elevate daily newscasts. You'll lead and mentor a team of producers while also coordinating evening digital desk/streaming coverage - making a direct impact on how Alaska gets its news across broadcast, CTV, and digital platforms. Responsibilities
Lead editorial strategy and hands‑on execution for daily newscasts from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., driving strong storytelling, pacing, and execution
Supervise, mentor, and develop all producers; set standards for writing, stacking, teasing, and show structure
Oversee day‑of coverage plans: enterprise, breaking news, live shots, and special coverage - ensuring accuracy, urgency, and ethics
Partner with the Managing Editor, anchors, MMJs, photographers, and directors to maximize resources and elevate production quality
Supervise the digital desk/streaming (CTV) coverage on the evening shift; align broadcast and streaming coverage, and build a cohesive coverage plan
Ensure strong multiplatform publishing and communication during breaking news across broadcast, streaming, web, and social
Maintain newsroom standards and quality control: scripts, graphics, video, legal/standards compliance, and brand consistency
Provide regular feedback, critiques, and training; foster a high‑accountability, collaborative culture
Schedule: Monday‑Friday 11:45 a.m. – 7:45 p.m. (flexibility as news demands)
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years producing in a newsroom, including newscast line producing and strong breaking‑news execution
Prior leadership experience (EP/Senior Producer/producer lead) with a track record of coaching and developing producers
Exceptional news judgment, strong ethics, and ability to make fast, accurate decisions under deadline
Excellent writing and editing skills (conversational broadcast style); strong AP style knowledge preferred
Proven ability to build rundowns, manage live coverage, and coordinate multiple shows in a high‑tempo environment
Strong collaboration and communication skills across the newsroom, control room, and field teams
Digital/streaming experience: ability to partner with and supervise a digital desk/CTV streaming workflow and align it with linear newscasts
Proficiency with newsroom systems (e.g., ENPS), modern editing tools, and basic analytics/metrics familiarity is a plus
Flexible schedule mindset; able to work extended days and adapt to breaking news needs
