WMBD (CBS), WYZZ (FOX), and WMBD+ in Peoria, IL has an immediate opening for a highly motivated Director of Sales with a proven track record of success.
This new opportunity in Peoria will report directly to the General Manager and work closely with other Department Heads to consistently deliver on the station's strategic goals for growth. We are seeking an energetic, positive, and creative leader to build on the success of our Digital and Linear Sales Team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and leadership skills, strong business acumen, and a high sense of urgency. You must also have exceptional interpersonal skills and be highly visible both inside the station and in the community.
Essential Duties
- Lead the Sales Team and own the position.
- Drive new business development and be visible in the community.
- Manage inventory, rates, sales processes, and revenue forecasting.
- Develop and execute sales packages and projects to increase station revenue.
- Build and maintain relationships with local and national clients and advertising agencies.
- Provide daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reporting.
- Prepare revenue budgets and monitor expense budgets.
- Make decisions regarding hiring, training, evaluation, promotion, and termination of employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Mass Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
- Fluency in English.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written.
- Minimum five years of experience in Television Station Management is preferred.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Experience guiding, directing, and motivating others, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
- Experience establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them.
- Ability to identify developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor, or otherwise help improve knowledge or skills.
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WideOrbit, and Matrix.
- Pay range: $125,000–$150,000.
