Overview
WMBD (CBS), WYZZ(FOX), and WMBD+ in Peoria, IL, is seeking a Director of Sales to join our team. The role reports directly to the General Manager and works closely with department heads to achieve the station’s strategic growth goals.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Sales Team, driving new business development and community engagement.
- Own performance, ensuring revenue goals are met through comprehensive planning, clear communication, and focused execution.
- Manage inventory, rates, political sales processes, and revenue forecasting.
- Develop and execute sales packages and projects that increase station revenue.
- Build and maintain relationships with local and national clients and advertising agencies.
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports.
- Prepare revenue budgets and monitor expense budgets.
- Make hiring, training, evaluation, promotion, and termination decisions for the sales team.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Mass Communications, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Fluency in English.
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Minimum five years’ experience in television station management preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Experience guiding, directing, and motivating others, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
- Experience establishing long‑range objectives and specifying strategies and actions to achieve them.
- Ability to identify developmental needs and coach, mentor, or otherwise help others improve.
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WideOrbit, and Matrix.
Compensation
Range: $125,000–$150,000.
