About the Role The firm is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to support its nationally recognized Corporate Practice while serving as a key member of the firm's broader Energy Industry Business Development team. This highly visible position partners closely with attorneys, practice leadership, and Marketing & Business Development professionals to drive strategic growth initiatives, client development, and market positioning. The ideal candidate will possess strong experience supporting transactional legal practices, particularly Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and Capital Markets, with energy industry experience strongly preferred. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Business Development – Corporate Practice.

Strategic Business Development Partner with attorneys and practice leaders to identify and execute business development strategies that support client growth and cross-selling opportunities.
Develop and implement go-to-market initiatives in collaboration with Business Development colleagues across multiple practices.
Support strategic client targeting efforts by tracking pursuits, monitoring activity, and reporting measurable results.
Identify emerging industry trends, competitive intelligence, and market opportunities to strengthen the firm's market position.
Lead the preparation of high-quality RFP responses, pitches, proposals, and other client development materials.
Coordinate collaboration meetings with attorneys and internal stakeholders to develop winning client presentations.
Manage multiple proposal deadlines while ensuring consistency, accuracy, and exceptional quality.
Experience Management Develop and execute the firm's experience and credentials strategy for the Corporate and Energy practices.
Maintain and optimize matter experience within the firm's Experience Management System (Foundation).
Create and continuously update practice descriptions, representative matters, attorney biographies, and marketing collateral.
Conduct in-depth research on prospective clients, competitors, industries, and market developments.
Provide attorneys with actionable intelligence that supports business development and client expansion initiatives.
Rankings, Directories & Awards Manage submissions for legal directories, league tables, and industry rankings.
Collaborate with the Public Relations team to prepare award submissions and promote notable firm achievements.
Events & Client Engagement Plan and execute client-facing events including:
Conferences
Receptions
Webinars
Thought leadership programs
Sponsorship opportunities
Coordinate invitations, event logistics, attendee engagement, follow-up activities, and ROI reporting.
Practice Operations & Internal Communications Develop meeting agendas, presentation materials, and internal communications.
Facilitate knowledge sharing across practice groups.
Manage action items and strategic initiatives resulting from leadership meetings.
Cross-Practice Collaboration Partner with Business Development Managers across the firm to support integrated client opportunities and cross-practice initiatives.
Identify sponsorships, memberships, conferences, and other profile-building opportunities that enhance the firm's brand and attorney visibility.
Technology & Innovation Serve as a power user and advocate for the firm's Business Development technology platforms, including the Foundation Experience Management System.
Support additional Business Development and firmwide strategic initiatives as needed.
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum 5 years of Business Development and Marketing experience within a law firm.
Demonstrated experience supporting Corporate or transactional legal practices.
Outstanding written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong project management and organizational abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to build relationships across attorneys, leadership, and business services teams.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
Experience utilizing CRM, proposal, or experience management systems.
Preferred Skills Business development experience supporting Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and Capital Markets practices.
Knowledge of the Energy industry or experience supporting energy-sector clients.
Experience with legal rankings, league tables, and directory submissions.
Familiarity with Foundation or similar Experience Management platforms.
