Summary of Job Duties:
The MUSiC Process Engineer III will be primarily responsible for the creation of processes and integration of those processes into the Multi-User Silicon Carbide Research and Fabrication Facility (MUSiC Fab) at the University of Arkansas. It supports research intended to develop low volume production and R&D prototyping for purposes of advancing the state of the art as well as being compatible with the needs of industrial advancement in the field. This is a multidisciplinary position that covers several processing modules and must work with other functional areas such as design, integration, and product development. This position will answer directly to the MUSiC Chief Technology Officer (CTO). The Process Engineer III requires expertise in growing high-purity epitaxial layers. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of progressive, hands‑on experience in epitaxial process development and manufacturing, with demonstrated expertise in establishing, stabilizing, and scaling high‑purity epitaxial growth processes suitable for advanced power device applications.

This job will require the supervision of employees as the MUSiC team grows. This position is weather essential and may require being on call for equipment issues as needed. Regular, reliable and non‑disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Qualifications:

M.S. in Physics, Chemistry, Electrical, Chemical Engineeringor related field from an accredited institution of higher education

At least 10 years of semiconductor experience in epitaxial growth processing and related safety procedures

Experience applying fundamental semiconductor device physics

Experience with resolving issues using FMEA or 8D

Experience with supervised processes to ensure quality output

U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Electrical, Chemical Engineeringor related field from an accredited institution of higher education

At least 15 years of industry or academic experience having multi-disciplinary responsibilities in areas such as process integration, process development or laboratory management

At least 10 years of epitaxial growth using a CVD system

At least five years experience utilizing an MES

Experience working with all areas of unit processing

Experience working with equipment maintenance and knowledge of the necessary tools such that tools and processes are qualified when in production mode

Additional Information:
This position is renewable annually based on continued need for the position, availability of funding, and satisfactory job performance.
