Opportunity
Responsible for acquiring small business and personal clients, deepening existing relationships, and integrating both business & personal clients. Will act as a trusted strategic advisor, providing financial advice and consistently connecting client needs with City National Bank's products and services. Must maintain a clear business development plan, focus on acquisition and retention, and work with other areas of CNB to ensure exemplary client service. Success metrics include acquisition of new personal and small business clients, deposit and fee income growth, loan and line volume (including CRA‑eligible fundings), risk management, and community presence activities. Must be in good standing under the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (Safe Act) and registered with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry.
Key Responsibilities
Acquire & deepen client relationships, generate new business and consumer client relationships within assigned segments, and become clients’ main bank option.
Manage a portfolio of existing clients, actively deepen relationships through cross‑selling; develop internal relationships to facilitate service.
Deliver an exceptional client experience, ensuring needs are met and escalations are resolved.
Improve sales & banking acumen by developing stronger practices through collaboration and training.
Capture holistic view of client needs, draw insights from data, and provide sound financial advice and discovery activities to grow deposits, investments, and credit.
Maintain awareness of policies and stay within lending authorities; ensure decisions comply with bank policies and regulations.
Partner with the CNB ecosystem, champion the Global Relationship Management (GRM) approach.
Represent the bank professionally at all levels, in the community, and in civic and industry organizations.
Comply with all operational and credit policies and regulatory requirements (BSA, KYC, CRA, Fair Lending, Code of Conduct).
Show client‑centricity and relationship management: understand clients’ realities, empathize, earn trust, and steward relationships with tailored advice.
Develop business through networking, nominations, and building relationships; collaborate with PBB/GRM and other divisions.
Communicate actively and effectively, listening to client needs and conveying CNB value proposition.
Use critical thinking to analyze situations and provide tailored advice.
Adapt to ambiguity and pivot as needed.
Organize effectively, prioritize activities, and deliver consistent client experience.
Maintain a polished, professional demeanor with preferred clients such as corporate executives.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of direct sales experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a financial institution.
In good standing under the Safe Act and registered with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry.
Preferred Qualifications
Deep knowledge of CNB’s personal and business banking products, especially for preferred clients.
Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance environment, including CIP and KYC.
Knowledge of the economic environment and its impact on clients.
Ability to review financial statements and advise on financial health.
Negotiation skills balancing bank and client needs.
Knowledge of CNB policies, procedures, and regulatory obligations.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting base salary: $78,970 - $126,140 per year (varies with skills, experience, location). Eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
