Digital Media Specialist

Join the City of Forney as a Digital Media Specialist. Under general supervision, the position coordinates social media, marketing, and promotional efforts for the City and its departments; performs a variety of marketing duties in support of the City's goals and mission, with an emphasis on creativity, written communication, and advertising across media platforms.

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
Designs, coordinates, and implements social media and marketing strategies, campaigns, and public events to engage City residents and the public; creates advertisements, brochures, and other promotional material to support City and City departments; collaborates with all departments to ensure digital, printed, and other content is relevant and well-designed.
Pursues relevant and proactive stories and content to be used to promote the City's image; advises departments of potential issues and opportunities in public engagement and marketing; provides marketing counsel and support to departments in the promotion of special events, services, and programs.
Assists the Director of Communications with a variety of projects and events; assists with the development of marketing material consistent with the City's overall branding; develops marketing and advertising plans for assigned departments; assists with all website and social media content and programming.
Maintains current industry trends and technology through attendance at trainings, conferences, and webinars; participates in professional organizations and marketing information groups to advance knowledge and network with other industry professionals.
Studies, plans, develops, and evaluates methods and practices to encourage public participation in projects and programs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: No direct supervision exercised; may exercise occasional administrative and functional supervision for specified activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid driver's license
High School Diploma or equivalent
Three (3) years' experience in marketing, media relations, advertising or a related field.

Life Insurance
Basic group life insurance protection is provided to eligible full-time employees in the amount of two times the annual salary as recorded at the beginning of each year.
Voluntary products are also available to full-time employees and include supplemental life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, cancer insurance, and critical care.

Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS)
All employees appointed to positions designated to work 1,000 hours or more per year must participate in the Texas Municipal Retirement System. TMRS is a qualified tax deferred retirement plan under Section 401 of the IRS. Seven percent of gross earnings are deducted each payroll as a pre-tax deduction and deposited into the member account. When an employee becomes vested and retires, the city provides 2-to-1 matching contributions.
