Duties and Key Job Responsibilities:
This position develops, implements, and executes integrated marketing and communication strategies that support University Housing's goals, including student recruitment, retention, and engagement. This role serves as the primary lead for marketing, brand management, digital strategy, and communications for University Housing.
The Marketing Manager oversees the creation and delivery of marketing content across platforms, manages the University Housing website, and supervises the Design Center, which provides marketing and creative services to staff and student leaders.
The role supervises student staff and collaborates with campus partners to ensure consistent, effective, and accessible messaging across all channels.
Key Responsibilities:
Develops, implements, and executes integrated marketing and communication plans aligned with University Housing priorities.
Leads multi-channel campaigns (digital, print, web, social, email) to support recruitment, retention, and resident engagement, including developing and editing content for publications, newsletters, web pages, and promotional materials.
Identifies target audiences and develops messaging strategies that strengthen the University Housing value proposition.
Utilizes outreach activities as marketing avenues to advance University Housing visibility.
Maintains brand standards for consistent voice, messaging, and visual identity.
Manages marketing calendars and timelines tied to key housing processes.
Collaborate with housing leadership and campus partners to align efforts.
Develops and delivers clear, effective communications for a variety of audiences, including students, families, and campus stakeholders.
Manages day-to-day communication channels (email, website, social media, Panther Family Portal) while ensuring consistent messaging across all digital and in-person touchpoints.
Tracks and monitors marketing performance, such as web traffic, social media engagement, and campaign results.
Uses data to inform adjustments and improve the effectiveness of marketing efforts.
2. Website Management– 25%
Manages the University Housing website as a primary marketing and communication platform.
Maintains and updates website content to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with marketing priorities, guided by a content calendar tied to key business cycles.
Ensures compliance with institutional web standards, brand guidelines, and governance requirements.
Ensure compliance with institutional AI policies.
Maintains adherence to digital accessibility standards (e.g., ADA/WCAG).
Coordinates with campus partners and IT to implement updates and improvements.
3. Creative Direction, Design Center Operations & Content Production – 20%
Leads the development and production of marketing content across platforms, including web, social media, print, photography, and video.
Oversee the University Housing Design Center, providing marketing and design services to staff and student leaders for programs, events, and initiatives.
Establishes and manages processes for project intake, consultation, prioritization, and production.
Provides guidance to departmental partners to translate programmatic needs into effective marketing strategies and materials.
Ensures all materials meet institutional branding, editorial, and accessibility standards.
Collaborates with external vendors as needed for production and delivery of marketing materials.
4. Student Staff Supervision & Coordination – 10%
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise student staff (e.g., graphic designers, photographers, videographers, social media assistants).
Provides direction and feedback to ensure timely and high-quality completion of marketing and design projects.
Coordinates workflow and project assignments across marketing initiatives and Design Center operations.
Models professionalism, effective communication, and customer service.
5. Other Duties as Assigned – 5%
Supervises student employees only.
2-3 student graphic artists
1-2 social media assistants
1 videographer/photographer

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Higher Education Administration, or a closely related field.
Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator) and digital content creation tools AND Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience supervising student employees, interns, or creative staff.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in student affairs or higher education.
Experience creating and analyzing marketing performance metrics, including website analytics and social media performance.
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, including planning, execution, and successful completion within established timelines.
Experience producing marketing and communication materials across digital and print platforms, including photography, video, and other visual content.
Experience managing websites using WordPress or a similar content management system, including maintaining accessibility and usability standards.
Experience developing and executing marketing strategies.
Knowledge of student recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies within a higher education setting.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners to support projects, programs, or initiatives.
Target Salary Range
$55K - $60K (Final salary offer will be determined based on qualifications and experience)
