Community Services Coordinator
Oversee Sports, Healthy Menifee, Skate Park, and Aquatics program areas within the Community Services Department.

Responsibilities
Lead and support recreation, leisure, and educational programs; assist in volunteer training and staff recruitment; plan and coordinate special events and activities; ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards; develop and maintain program records and reports.

Plan and implement recreation programs for all age groups.

Lead and supervise activities such as sports, arts & crafts, dance, outdoor education, after‑school programs, and special events.

Develop comprehensive aquatics staff training curriculum and ensure certifications are current.

Promote water safety and drowning prevention through swim lessons and public education.

Coordinate special events, including vendor communication, logistics, and on‑site support.

Create marketing and outreach materials such as flyers, brochures, news releases, and presentations.

Provide customer service and resolve issues by responding to concerns, investigating complaints, and implementing solutions.

Supervise staff and volunteers, including hiring support, training, scheduling, task assignment, and performance monitoring.

Oversee facility rentals and ensure policy compliance.

Maintain program records, financial tracking, and administrative reports.

Process registrations and point‑of‑sale transactions for programs and activities.

Manage equipment and supplies, including issuance, tracking, inventorying, and storage.

Represent the department in meetings, advisory committees, and community partnerships.

Ensure compliance with City, State, Federal, and departmental regulations.

Use office software tools to maintain records and create promotional materials.

Maintain positive working relationships with patrons, staff, volunteers, City departments, and community organizations.

Perform related duties as assigned to support departmental operations.

Program Areas

Healthy Menifee – planning and implementation of healthy eating, physical activity, and mental wellness programming.

Sports – recruitment of volunteer coaches, planning and implementation of sports programs and camps, and scheduling and facilitation of youth sports leagues.

Aquatics – development of the aquatics program, swim lesson coordination, water‑safety education, and lifeguard training.

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in recreation, public administration, or a related field, or a twelve‑year high‑school education supplemented by college coursework in recreation, leisure studies, or public administration, plus five years of responsible paid experience in recreation or event planning. Desired qualifications include advanced certifications in lifeguard, water safety, and first aid.

Valid CPR/AED/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within six months of hire). Maintaining this certification is a condition of continued employment.

Possession of a Valid California Driver’s License. Maintaining this license is a condition of continued employment.

Desired Certifications

CPR/AED for Lifeguards or professional rescuer, Water Safety Instructor’s Certificate (WSI), and First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title 22) certifications.
