Overview
The Business Developer (BD) works to improve BrightView’s market position and achieve profitable financial growth. This role helps achieve long‑term organizational strategic goals, builds key customer relationships, identifies business opportunities, negotiates and closes deals, and maintains extensive knowledge of current market conditions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work with prospective customers to discover their “points of pain” and develop solutions.
Accurately forecast sales deliverables and key performance indicators.
Achieve sales goals and work independently.
Perform sales prospecting using consultative techniques to build long‑standing relationships.
Prepare and conduct heavy phone prospecting, sales presentations, virtual demonstrations, and handle contract negotiations.
Identify customer needs and utilize solution‑based selling to demonstrate the value of BrightView services.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with prospects and existing clients.
Build and maintain trust‑based professional relationships with key decision makers.
Plan daily activities, hit benchmarks, and close business.
Log activity consistently and reliably in CRM (Salesforce).
Work in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining a high sense of urgency.
Communicate proactively with all decision makers and influencers.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
3‑5 years of B2B selling experience at mid‑to‑senior level.
Experience managing multiple projects and multitasking in a large territory.
Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Experience with a CRM or SFA tool.
Proven track record of sales goal attainment and pipeline management.
Highly competitive, positive, and results driven.
Excellent presentation, oral, and written communication skills.
Experience with social media.
Local knowledge and contacts in one or more market segments preferred.
Self‑motivated and self‑directed.
Experience in the service industry with commercial contract sales desirable.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Constant use of computer and other office equipment.
Combination of mobile and sedentary work; must remain stationary for extended periods.
Spending more than half the time working away from BrightView’s offices.
Ability to travel by car, train, and plane.
Traverse uneven grounds and walk on job sites for up to 4 hours.
Maintain required medications for allergic reactions.
Works both indoors and outdoors.
Field‑based position, combination of office and customer‑facing.
Compensation
$65,000 to $75,000 + Commissions (No Draw Pay).
