Role Description
The Sales Design Consultant is a full-time, on-site role based on King Street in Charleston, SC. This role focuses on guiding customers through product selection, providing design recommendations, and creating personalized solutions that align with their aesthetic and functional needs. The consultant will present Kohler’s kitchen, bath, and related product offerings, prepare quotes, and support the sales process from initial inquiry through final purchase. Daily responsibilities include maintaining showroom displays, staying current on product features and trends, and collaborating with team members to meet sales targets and deliver an exceptional customer experience. The role also involves documenting customer interactions, following up on leads, and ensuring that all design and sales activities reflect Kohler’s quality and service standards.

Qualifications

Strong customer service skills with a focus on building trust, listening actively, and providing clear, helpful guidance.

Proven sales abilities, including consultative selling, closing techniques, and experience working toward individual or team sales goals.

Knowledge of interior design principles and the ability to translate customer preferences into cohesive design solutions.

Experience working with furniture and furnishings, including product selection, space planning, and aesthetic coordination.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical or design concepts in accessible terms.

Comfort working in an on-site showroom or retail environment, including evening or weekend hours as business needs require.

Attention to detail and basic proficiency with digital tools for quoting, scheduling, and documenting customer interactions.

Preferred: Prior experience in kitchen and bath design, retail design consulting, or a related field; coursework or a degree in design, business, or a similar discipline is beneficial.
