Summary
The Research Scientific Publishing and Repository Specialist serves as a senior editor for key manuscripts and projects, while also acting as the primary facilitator of educational and publication repository initiatives within the Office of Scientific Publications. The role collaborates closely with the Biomedical Library to develop and maintain the Moffitt Publication Repository, Manuscript Pre-Submission Review Process, and to edit SOPs, topic guidelines, webpages, and resource guides. Extensive collaboration with grant administrators, Office of Scientific Development staff, and external sponsors (NIH, DOD, etc.) is required to develop and maintain internal tracking and reporting for grants, research projects, and institutional authorities.
The Specialist will lead educational initiatives in scientific writing and publishing for faculty, postdocs, and graduate students, developing materials on open access, scholarly communications, and academic identity management. The role promotes scholarly copyright education, developing programs and best practices in consultation with key stakeholders. In addition to administrative responsibilities, the position offers editorial support for high-priority manuscripts and grant applications.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain the Moffitt Publication Repository.
Oversee the Manuscript Pre-Submission Review Process.
Lead Faculty Peer-Review & Writing Group.
Create and update SOPs, topic guidelines, webpages, and resource guides.
Collaborate with grant administrators and internal stakeholders for tracking and reporting.
Deliver educational programs on scientific writing, open access, and copyright.
Provide editorial support for manuscripts and grant applications.
Credentials and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or technical writing (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics, or related field).
Five (5) years of experience in a research or academic setting focused on scientific editing/writing.
Medical Writer Certified (MWC®) required within one (1) year of hire.
Salary Range
$75,153.00 - $114,701.60
