The Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) at Roosevelt University is seeking a part‑time clarinet instructor to conduct weekly applied lessons on campus for students in multiple degree programs.
Job Duties
- Engage actively in student recruitment for CCPA clarinet courses.
- Retain students through effective and healthy pedagogy.
- Participate in adjudication of recitals, woodwind juries, and woodwind auditions.
- Communicate clearly and promptly regarding course matters.
- Submit grades and attendance records in a timely manner.
- Use the university‑assigned email address consistently.
- Prepare and submit a studio syllabus each semester that documents all studio policies, expectations, procedures, and grading criteria.
This is a part‑time position capped at 20 teaching hours per week with a salary of approximately $110 per hour.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Music or a related field (or significant teaching and/or performing experience considered in lieu of a degree).
- At least 2 years of teaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level.
- Documented record of consistent professional performance and teaching experience.
- Commitment to robust student recruitment and retention.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Music or a related field.
- Experience teaching at the university level.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Working Conditions
The instructor will work in a climate‑controlled office environment. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and/or pulling of objects weighing less than 10–15 pounds may be required.
Equipment Operated
Studio sound system, basic office/classroom equipment, and smart‑classroom equipment (computer, monitor, projector, and audio equipment).
