Artist-Teacher of Clarinet

The Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) at Roosevelt University is seeking a part‑time clarinet instructor to conduct weekly applied lessons on campus for students in multiple degree programs.

Job Duties

Engage actively in student recruitment for CCPA clarinet courses.

Retain students through effective and healthy pedagogy.

Participate in adjudication of recitals, woodwind juries, and woodwind auditions.

Communicate clearly and promptly regarding course matters.

Submit grades and attendance records in a timely manner.

Use the university‑assigned email address consistently.

Prepare and submit a studio syllabus each semester that documents all studio policies, expectations, procedures, and grading criteria.

This is a part‑time position capped at 20 teaching hours per week with a salary of approximately $110 per hour.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Music or a related field (or significant teaching and/or performing experience considered in lieu of a degree).

At least 2 years of teaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level.

Documented record of consistent professional performance and teaching experience.

Commitment to robust student recruitment and retention.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Music or a related field.

Experience teaching at the university level.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Working Conditions
The instructor will work in a climate‑controlled office environment. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and/or pulling of objects weighing less than 10–15 pounds may be required.

Equipment Operated
Studio sound system, basic office/classroom equipment, and smart‑classroom equipment (computer, monitor, projector, and audio equipment).
