News Reporter

The Citizen is looking for a reporter to work with its award-winning staff in Auburn.

We cover the Cayuga County area of Central New York, which along with the city of Auburn includes several rural areas and lakeside villages.

The newspaper prints three times a week, but our main priority is producing content for our website, auburnpub.com.

Responsibilities
You will cover a mix of topics, including local government, business, crime, arts and culture.

Responsibilities include:

Writing news stories

Conducting interviews

Copy editing

Taking photos and video

Using social media

Work schedule: Sundays through Thursdays, mostly morning to early evening, with flexibility.

Option to work remotely; office available if desired.

Qualifications
Preferred: Completion of a bachelor’s or master’s program in journalism and/or experience at a news publication.

Desired skills: storytelling, news writing, interviewing, copy editing, photography, video production, social media familiarity.
