Role Overview
Hotel Zags is seeking a Sales Manager to lead and grow hotel sales, develop new accounts, and manage key relationships while ensuring profitability and adherence to the company’s high standards of service.
Responsibilities
- Meet and exceed revenue goals by developing new accounts and growing current hotel accounts.
- Achieve at least 90% of productivity goals and 100% of activity goals as established by management.
- Lead direct reports to reach property sales goals while holding them accountable to essential duties.
- Drive the direct sales program by conducting appointment‑oriented calls, tours, and negotiations.
- Maximize key account profitability by identifying and capturing growth opportunities.
- Acquire new business through competitor research, networking, and targeted outreach.
- Develop and execute a targeted account “hit list” to generate new revenue.
- Plan and implement e‑commerce and internet marketing strategies.
- Promote the brand story to increase overall profitability.
- Adjust sales plans in response to changing market trends and business needs.
- Maintain current knowledge of competitors and best sales practices, including yield management.
- Continuously prospect new business via telemarketing, creative outreach, and industry events.
- Apply yield management techniques to negotiate room rates and function space commitments.
- Maintain accurate, organized client files and documentation.
- Develop strong customer relationships through frequent communication and professional interaction.
- Create customer profiles and an effective trace system to meet client needs.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries.
- Conduct market research to capitalize on hotel strengths and competitor weaknesses.
- Dedicate at least 90% of work time to revenue‑producing sales activities.
- Control expenses, including travel, to minimize hotel costs.
- Represent the hotel and Sage Hospitality Resources with integrity, professionalism, and a service‑focused attitude.
- Maintain a positive team attitude and open communication across departments.
- Maintain a neat, clean, business‑like appearance at all times.
Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- 4+ years of hotel sales management experience.
- Preferred 3–5 years of sales management experience.
- Knowledge of general sales techniques, yield management, and customer service.
- Valid state driver’s license and reliable transportation for sales calls.
- Ability to travel as required.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Effective problem‑solving and business decision‑making skills.
- Ability to plan activities, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
Physical Demands
- Sitting 85%, walking 5%, standing 5%, bending, kneeling, lifting, climbing 5%.
- Must have dexterity and mobility to meet clients, tour property, attend functions, climb stairs, and operate basic office equipment.

- Office setting with occasional travel and weather exposure during sales calls.
