Job Summary
“It takes people to make the dream a reality!” Walt said, and it still rings true today. Our hourly Assistant Stage Managers assist in the daily operation of the shows and atmosphere product at the Disneyland® Resort. Responsibilities range from supporting the backstage operation of a stage show, to calling cues, to assisting with atmosphere, entertainment offerings, and special events.

Responsibilities

Work under the direction and guidance of a salaried Entertainment Stage Manager

Perform daily operational duties to support stage productions, shows, atmosphere shows, spectaculars, events and festivals

Support the planning and operation of rehearsals and performances

Assist with administrative or show maintenance tasks/projects as assigned

Foster a safe, courteous, respectful, supportive, and positive working environment

Assist in identifying and resolving potential impacts to a safe and successful operation and communicate accordingly with appropriate Entertainment or Resort personnel

Administer show and venue safety training to cast, crew, and outside talent as needed

Help facilitate and track costume fittings and cosmetology seminars as needed

Maintain the organization, cleanliness, safety, and show‑readiness of rehearsal and performance venues

Assist in facilitating communication between cast, crew and operational partners

Call cues (for certain offerings) and/or support the backstage operation for rehearsals and performances

Basic Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age

Experience in a theatrical, industrial, or theme park environment as a Stage Manager, Assistant Stage Manager, or Production Assistant

Remain calm and collected during high‑pressure or complicated situations

Takes initiative and is a self‑driven learner

Work effectively as an individual contributor and in a collaborative team environment

Understand how to "work in the gray" and proactively adapt to make quick decisions

Operate in a safe, efficient, and organized manner

Demonstrate relationship and team building skills

Uphold the standards of Disney Entertainment

Have excellent verbal and written communication skills

Have strong leadership and problem‑solving skills

Understand current theatrical and business technology

Strong focus on timeliness and time management

Flexible with work schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overnights

Physically able to stand for long periods, go up and down stairs quickly, lift up to 25 pounds on occasion, and work in various weather conditions

Comfortable working in proximity to pyrotechnics, automated scenery, and loud noises

Preferred Education

BA/BFA in Theater or related field

Schedule Availability
Theme parks operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rehearsal and show shifts may start at any time of day or night.

Seasonal role availability:

Fully available at least 3 days per week during holiday peak (October through early January)

Available to work day, evening, and/or overnight shifts based on business need

Available to work holidays, including Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day

Part time role availability:

Fully available Friday/Saturday/Sunday and holidays year‑round

Fully available seven days a week during holiday peak (November through early January)

Pay and Benefits
The pay rate for this role in California is $25.20 per hour. Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, such as medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
