Strategic Communications and Public Affairs Specialist, Senior
The Opportunity:
As a Strategic Communications and Public Affairs Specialist, you will support a key Department of the Navy (DON) office. In this role you will shape and execute enterprise‑level communications and engagement efforts that strengthen stakeholder understanding, enhance industry partnerships, and advance mission priorities across the naval enterprise. You will work closely with the Public Affairs Officer (PAO), Navy and Marine Corps (USMC) subject matter experts, and leadership teams to define communication objectives, develop targeted messaging, and deliver high‑quality products that support mission execution. This position requires the ability to operate independently, apply sound judgment, and bring prior experience in defense‑related communications, public affairs, and stakeholder engagement.
What You'll Work On:
Plan, draft, and produce high‑quality communication materials that include weekly leadership messaging, annual publications, articles, briefs, talking points, digital content, ghost emails, and social media products to communicate organizational priorities and strengthen stakeholder awareness.
Develop strategies and plans to address complex and evolving organizational needs and mission priorities.
Partner closely with the PAO to develop aligned messaging, ensure consistency across internal and external audiences, and support the creation of nuanced public affairs guidance that reflects client priorities and policy direction.
Coordinate and facilitate engagement with industry partners and other DON or USMC stakeholders, representing the program office at events and supporting outreach efforts that build relationships, enhance transparency, and advance mission objectives.
Collaborate with Navy and USMC subject matter experts to gather insights, refine themes, and shape communication products that accurately reflect technical, operational, and strategic priorities.
Coordinate with strategic communication points of contact across the enterprise to help ensure consistency and effective messaging.
Contribute to the development of digital communication strategies and produce compelling social media content that supports organizational messaging, highlights mission achievements, and strengthens external engagement.
Support communications planning and change management activities associated with the stand‑up and evolution of the organization.
Assist in developing new communication frameworks, messaging structures, and engagement cadences that enable smooth transition and reinforce organizational identity.
You Have:
10+ years of experience in Operations Management.
Ability to collaborate independently.
Secret clearance.
Bachelor's degree.
Nice If You Have:
5+ years of experience managing and developing organizational messaging for social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn to promote awareness and understanding of programs and initiatives.
5+ years of experience developing executive leadership communications materials and content in support of key strategic initiatives and promoting executive priorities throughout the organization.
5+ years of experience supporting organizational outreach programs, including development of marketing materials, coordination of conference planning activities, and facilitation of conference engagement activities.
5+ years of experience developing and implementing strategic communications plans in support of critical organizational programs and initiatives, including stakeholder analyses, key themes and messages, engagement strategies, and performance measures.
3+ years of experience in technical editing of corporate communications materials and documentation.
Experience with Microsoft Office to develop briefs, briefing memos, talking points, and marketing materials.
Experience with Microsoft Teams and SharePoint to manage intellectual capital and implement knowledge management strategies.
Clearance:

Compensation:
Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract‑specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $77,600.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD). This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
