Audio-Visual Technician
The AV Technician ensures all AV equipment, devices, and systems are accounted for and working properly. Responsibilities include setting up equipment before events and operating, repairing, and cleaning equipment as necessary.

Roles & Responsibilities

Assist in technical support and setup of AV equipment for all areas of operation: Theme Park, Waterpark, Animal Park, Hotel, Restaurant, and Campgrounds.

Maintain operational knowledge of event space lighting, control systems, projection screens, video projectors, and house sound systems.

Set up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot AV equipment.

Ensure AV storage areas and related electrical rooms or panels remain clean and orderly.

Notify AV Manager of any issues with electrical lines, panels, controls, or equipment.

Ensure AV systems and equipment are properly labeled, repaired, and cleaned when necessary.

Cooperate with the Events Team when necessary to ensure proper AV setup for meetings and events.

Protect guest belongings and turn in lost and found items promptly.

Report maintenance or safety concerns to AV Manager in a timely manner.

Cooperate with other departments to provide a positive guest experience.

Promptly notify security or host and guest injuries or emergencies.

Perform any other duties assigned by leadership.

Language
Fluent English; Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.

Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

1‑2 years of prior AV/Sound work experience or a technical degree/diploma.

Excellent computer proficiency and mechanical aptitude.

Knowledge of installation, configuration, and maintenance of AV systems and equipment.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with Iowa Child Labor Laws.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and be open to closing.

Ability to work hours that extend beyond 9 AM to 5 PM during the operating season and event set‑up activities.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

Must have reliable transportation to and from work for scheduled shifts.

Basic knowledge of commercial and/or professional audio systems required.

Must possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.

Proficient in soldering techniques highly desired.

Must possess some mechanical aptitude and ability to use a variety of hand and power tools.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, stoop, twist, kneel, bend, climb, or squat for long periods.

Ability to walk long distances throughout the park.

Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 50 pounds or more.

Ability to work in all non‑conventional areas, including confined spaces or above ground level on scaffolds, ladders, and manlifts.

Ability to consistently use hands to grasp, control, and move objects/tools.

Ability to see differences between colors and brightness.

Ability to identify details of objects more than a few feet away.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to variable outside temperatures, high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice, and other weather conditions.

Subject to constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, flashing or bright light, vibrations, dust, and exposure to various chemicals.

Work at significant heights greater than 100 feet.
