Event Production Technician
Execute events and broadcasts safely and with excellence. Coordinate equipment and crew, operate audio, video, lighting, and LED systems, and perform setup and teardown efficiently. Collaborate with Broadcast staff, provide technical training to students, and assume additional control-room or field responsibilities as necessary to optimize the overall Liberty event and production experience.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Operate production equipment.
Set up equipment, including microphones, speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording devices, and audio mixing consoles, for events such as concerts, sporting events, meetings, conventions, presentations, and press conferences.
Knowledge of principles of sound reinforcement, stage lighting, live video production, electricity, and computing systems.
Safely transport equipment.
Professionally communicate with customers and proactively identify and communicate customers' potential unexpressed needs.
Troubleshoot equipment issues.
Ability to work in a high pressure and stressful environment.
Required to work flexible hours, including frequent nights and weekends.
Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's Christian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ.
Tier 1
Support productions by contributing to planning, set-up, and execution efforts across live and recorded environments.
Perform assigned technical and operational functions in support of productions, adapting to a variety of production settings and requirements.
Contribute to media and content workflows by assisting with processing, organization, editing, and delivery of production assets.
Support student development initiatives by participating in training, mentoring, and collaborative work efforts while maintaining professional standards.

Qualifications and Credentials
Education and Experience
High school diploma.
To obtain LU-approved driver certification, individuals must be 21 years of age or older, possess a valid driver's license with a minimum of five (5) years of documented driving history, and maintain a clean driving record.
Tier 1
2+ years' experience in professional and/or academic production work is required.
Working knowledge of electricity.
Working knowledge of audio and visual concepts, PowerPoint, and ProPresenter.
Preferred Education and Experience
Four-year college degree preferred.
Tier 1
Detailed knowledge and thorough experience with audio console and speaker systems, video switchers, LED walls, or lighting consoles.
Production, theatrical, and arena rigging experience.

Frequently required to travel to campus locations and occasionally required to travel domestically or internationally for remote events.
Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork. Required to sit for extensive time during broadcasts to serve in functions essential to the production.
Must possess remarkable auditory skills to accurately detect and interpret various sounds—such as pitch, tone, clarity, and spatial cues—to identify technical audio problems, maintain creative content quality, and communicate clearly with team members in fast-paced settings.
Must possess exceptional visual acuity, including the ability to see fine details and accurately distinguish colors, in order to identify visual defects, maintain the creative and technical quality of video content, and carry out precise tasks.
Often required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the buildings.
Handle materials, climb ladders, reach overhead, kneel or stoop to conduct business.
Regularly lift 50 or fewer pounds.
Working Conditions
Work Environment
The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is frequently changing. Functions of this position's responsibility often require one to work after normal business hours, and in some situations for prolonged shifts. Some projects are completed in a climate-controlled office setting, and other projects regularly are outdoors, in some situations inclement weather must be accommodated.
Driving Requirements
Use of one's personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver's license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.
