Act as backstage point-of-contact for performers, Production Manager, and front-of-house crew for Lamont performances

Interact with other students, faculty, guest artists, audience, and crew members to foster a safe, consistent, accessible, and professional concert environment

Work alongside dedicated audio engineer team to assist with AV, streaming, and/or recording requests

Assist Production Manager with setup and stage changes before, during, and after concerts/events

Run basic lighting and sound systems for performances

Welcome patrons and assist with ticket-scanning, seating, and program distribution as needed

Supervise and facilitate backstage/front-of-house duties for smaller-scale student recitals

Assist with load-in and load-out of instruments and equipment

Open and close classroom, performance, and reception spaces

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience working with individuals of varied abilities and diverse backgrounds

Experience in customer service or live events

Initiative, flexibility, and collaboration skills

Experience in live events and utilizing various concert setups and performance systems

Required Qualifications

University of Denver undergraduate or graduate student, enrolled full time for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Preferred Qualifications

A background in music or other live events (e.g. band, orchestra, choir, theatre) is a plus

An interest in music, concerts, or live events

A standard live events setting: backstage and front-of-house in performance venues and classrooms of various sizes, all within the Newman Center for Performing Arts

Noise level varies from quiet to very loud (hearing protection provided as requested
eeded)

Interruptions or unexpected changes occur often; stress level varies from low to high

Physical Activities

Ability to lift weight ranging from 5-25lbs as an individual, or 25+ lbs as part of a team

Ability to move about the building on various floors, (via stairs or elevator), moving wheeled equipment and carts as needed

Ability to move and function backstage in performance venues with low light and/or reduced visibility

Ability to sit for an extended period, and then do short bursts of movement/activity

Ability to access a locker with a combination lock for building keys and other work equipment

Ability to lock and unlock doors with various lock types, including knobs, key codes, etc.

Ability to move equipment (carts, instruments, heavy items above 25 pounds) is a plus

Compensation and Benefits

This position prioritizes students eligible for federal work-study, which requires eligibility through the Financial Aid Office.

This position is open on a limited basis to non-work study funded students.

Students will be paid starting at $19.50 per hour with the opportunity for yearly increases.

This position requires 3-15 hours per week for fall, winter, and spring quarters with flexibility in scheduling.

While this position is primarily nights and weekends, morning, afternoon, and weekday hours are consistently available.

On-site orientations will take place on a pre-determined basis, with individual orientation as requested.

In compliance with Colorado’s Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA), non-benefited employees accrue one hour of paid leave for every 30 hours worked up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.

Work Schedule

3.0 to 20.0 hours per week, dependent upon the Lamont event schedule.

Work schedules are typically lighter in the Fall Quarter but increase towards the end of each quarter.

There is a significant increase in available hours during Spring Quarter.

The Production Manager will provide opportunities for additional hours outside of standard performance shifts.

Start Date

Start date will vary, dependent upon full completion of hiring process (including background check and I-9 verification).

All stagehands (both new and returning) will receive an on-site orientation prior to beginning shifts.
