合唱團老師 Chorus Teacher

We are looking for Mandarin-speaking teachers & teaching assistants for our after-school program and summer science camps. Because we are an after-school program, most teachers will be working in a part-time capacity.

Are you a hip-hop or modern dance teacher who speaks Mandarin Chinese?

We want to create a dance group where a teacher teaches students to dance and sing to Chinese pop music. Help us create dance classes where children can also learn Chinese.

Experience teaching dance to children

MUST pass a background check

Are you a chorus teacher who speaks Mandarin Chinese?

We want to create a chorus group where a teacher teaches students to sing to Chinese songs. Help us create classes where children can also learn Chinese.

Great opportunity for Berkeley High School or UC Berkeley (Cal) students.
Volunteers and teaching assistants will help teachers in classrooms during Chinese language lesson and play games with kids to help develop their language skills.

We want to help develop children’s verbal communication skills. This is where you come in to help engage them and talk with them.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience playing with children (preferred)

MUST pass a background check

Certified for First Aid (we can schedule training if needed)

Do NOT need Early Childhood Education credential

Do NOT need a Teaching credential

NICE TO HAVE – Familiar with BoPoMoFo (zhuyin 注音)

Teacher will help children who have little to no exposure to Chinese to slowly learn the language. Students will be kindergarten students (ages 5-7) in public school who are starting to learn Chinese with little or no previous experience.

MAIN GOAL
Help beginning students learn to listen and speak. They will also learn basic Chinese characters.

HOURS
Monday to Friday, 1:30pm to 4:30pm (possible to work until 6:00pm)

SCHEDULE

Homework & Free Time

(M-F 1:30pm-2:30pm)

Help students with homework and arts & crafts activities while helping them practice basic Chinese speaking.

Beginner Language Class

(M-F 2:30pm-3:30pm)

Teach kids in classroom setting beginning Chinese. Can be mix of games & activities to develop verbal communication.

Beginner Interactive PlayTime

(M-F 3:30pm-4:30pm)

Use our gym/exercise space to play interactive games with kids to help develop their language skills.

Extended Play

(M-F 4:30pm-5:30pm)

Share space with “intermediate kids” to play interactive games to develop character recognition & language skills.

REQUIREMENTS

Fluent Mandarin Chinese speaker familiar with BoPoMoFo (zhuyin 注音)

Experience teaching children (preferred)

MUST pass a background check

Certified for First Aid (we can schedule training if needed)

Do NOT need Early Childhood Education credential

Teacher will help children who already can listen & speak Chinese to develop their reading & writing skills. Students will be Grades K-2 students (ages 5-9) in public school who are familiar with speaking Chinese and may already know 20-100 characters.

GOAL
Teach Chinese characters and improve verbal communication & grammar.

HOURS
Monday to Friday, 2:30pm to 5:30pm (possible to work until 6:00pm)

SCHEDULE

Formal classroom time to teach kids Chinese. Mix of lessons, games & activities to develop reading & writing skills.

(M-F 4:30pm-5:30pm)

Use our gym/exercise space to play interactive games with kids to help develop their character recognition & language skills.

Shuttle bus driver will pickup children from local elementary schools in Berkeley and Albany and drop off at Hanwen School for after-school program. Driver may make multiple trips depending on different schools’ dismissal time.

Excellent driving record

Experience working with children

MUST pass a background check
