An Associate fashion designer supports senior designers by creating sketches, developing tech packs, researching trends, and assisting with fittings. Key responsibilities include creating technical drawings in Adobe Illustrator, managing garment samples, assisting in fabric selection, and facilitating communication between design, production, and vendors to ensure collections are completed on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Development: Researching seasonal trends, creating mood boards, sketching new designs, and developing color palettes.
Technical Design: Creating and updating detailed tech packs, which include technical drawings, measurements, material specifications, and construction details.
Sample Management: Creating prototype garments (sampling), making patterns, and evaluating samples for quality and accuracy to the original design.
Fittings & Production: Attending fit sessions, documenting changes, and assisting with communication between design teams, manufacturers, and vendors.
Administrative Support: Organizing design libraries, managing, and maintaining design archives, and preparing presentation boards for meetings.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and PLM systems (e.g., Centric).
Understanding of fabrics, garment construction, and silhouette. Collaboration: Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team, often handling multiple seasons simultaneously.
Education: A degree in fashion design or a related field is typically preferred.
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new design software and tools.
Knowledge womenswear denim product, fabrics, garment construction, and wash process.
Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working with overseas vendors.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, small-office environment. Self-motivated, proactive, and flexible, with a sense of urgency and a positive attitude.
2-4 years of experience in apparel design, preferably in Women’s denim.
