Position Summary
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for creating and executing a business plan that identifies new sales opportunities while supporting Southland Energy’s strategic business goals. The BDM will capitalize on industry trends, develop key industry and client relationships, and closely coordinate with the Acquisition and Project Development Teams to achieve growth and sales goals.

The primary focus for this role is within Healthcare and Higher Education energy project markets, but we are interested in learning about other markets and opportunities that you may have experience with.

Position Details

Develop strategic direction for market segment or vertical market, ensuring alignment with the strategic direction of the business and in support of achieving annual sales targets. These strategic initiatives must be synergistic with the strategic initiatives of the sales team.

Gather market intelligence and outlines specific strategies necessary to drive growth and capitalize on business opportunities. Works with business development and sales teams to develop client relationships and to identify and qualify new business opportunities.

Develop, maintain and expand relationships with all levels in an account. Schedule and attend appointments and meetings with clients to identify and develop project opportunities and desired outcomes.

Attend networking and trade show events and participate in speaking engagements to obtain leads and expand knowledge of critical issues facing our customer base.

Participate in planning, writing, reviewing, and presenting competitive proposals to secure new projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

10+ years of experience with energy project work.

5+ years of relevant sales experience.

Experience working in Higher Education market sector or vertical market.

Experience developing Design Build energy and / or infrastructure retrofit projects such as Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPC), Energy as a Service (EaaS), Public Private Partnerships (PPP), etc.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to present effectively to groups and in public forums.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and PowerPoint.

Demonstrated financial and business acumen.

Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For (Colorado/New York City/California/Washington/Maryland) this ranges from $131,000.00 - $197,558.00 plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
