Job Description:

The Coordinator of Communications and Pre-K/Federal Programs serves as a liaison with the news media, manages special school events, and works with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents to communicate district messages, initiatives, and successes. The Coordinator of Communications and Pre-K/Federal Programs works cooperatively with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction to plan, coordinate, implement and monitor ESEA Federal Programs including Title I and Title III; plans, manages and monitors the development of the comprehensive preschool program; and works cooperatively with central office staff to deliver services consistent with federal, state, and county policies and regulations.

Qualifications:
Administrative experience with special school events.
Holds or qualifies for a West Virginia Professional Administrative Certificate.
Has a minimum of five years of teaching and/or educational administrative experience.
Holds a master's degree related to the public school system.

Responsibilities:

The Coordinator of Communications and Pre-K/Federal Programs shall have the following responsibilities and duties:

To handle all media calls, contacts, etc.
To serve as a liaison between the school system and the news media.
To demonstrate cognitive skills to gather, analyze and synthesize information to reach goals.
To build support in the community through community committees and boards, presentations to organizations, and business partnerships.
To promote the product of Public Schools and Putnam County Schools.
To actively support economic development liaisons through business partnerships and other efforts.
Work directly with Superintendent to communicate district messages, initiatives, and successes.
To strategize with the Superintendent and leadership team.
To enhance quality of total school/county organization.
To organize and delegate to accomplish goals.
To communicate effectively.
To manage and monitor the county website and social media promotions.
To provide public relations for levies, excess levies, bonds, etc.
To provide public relations for school and district news.
To be a member of the county crisis team and serve as crisis committee spokesperson.
To work cooperatively in the development, delivery, administration, and supervision of district events.
To assist in the dissemination of information regarding school sponsored performances, exhibits, displays, and other activities.
To maintain an open line of communication with community organizations and provide prompt responses to requests for information.
To manage advertising as needed.
To assist in surveying the community regarding educational issues.
To serve as a resource for principals regarding parent newsletters, PTO programs and working with the news media.
To maintain professional work habits.
To maintain and upgrade professional skills.
To provide purpose and direction for the schools and county.
To administer, revise, and monitor the Title I and Title III programs in accordance with federal, state, and county policies and regulations.
To manage group behaviors to achieve consensus.
To enhance the quality of the total school/county organization.
To interpret federal and state legislation and regulations affecting the education of all students.
To develop, administer, revise, and monitor a comprehensive preschool program.
To work cooperatively with community agencies and private preschool providers.
To prepare and manage budgets in the areas of assignment.
To coordinate and work cooperatively with the Director of Elementary Education to effectively enhance instruction and the administration/monitoring of Pre-K, Federal Programs, Title I and Title III programs.
To develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive training program and standards of operation for curriculum specialists.
To prepare all appropriate county, state, and federal reports and applications as required.
To assist in the evaluation and implementation of policies dealing with curriculum and instruction in general and special education.
To work cooperatively with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction in the design, development, and delivery of staff development for professional personnel.
To assess federal programs professional and service staff needs.
To assume a leadership role for implementing effective schools research in areas of responsibility.
To perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.
