The Social Media Coordinator is a strategist and creator focused on building, engaging, and sustaining Arapahoe Basin’s social media following. This role requires proven experience in audience growth strategies, community management, viral content trends, photography, and videography. The ideal candidate possesses strong social media skills, a deep understanding of platform algorithms, and the ability to turn daily mountain happenings into high-growth digital moments under strict deadlines. In order to be successful, the Social Media Coordinator must be a strong skier or rider and be comfortable and familiar on all A-Basin terrain.

In addition to creating content for A-Basin’s marketing efforts, this role will assist the Communications Manager, Marketing Director, and other department managers as needed. This position reports to the Communications Manager.

The start date for this position is September 2026. This is a 10-month role with 2 months off in the summer.

WAGE
The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of Arapahoe Basin’s hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, and responsibilities. The range listed is just one component of Arapahoe Basin’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.

Hourly pay range: $20.00 - $25.92/ hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Generate, edit, and share high-impact, shareable content daily; Plan weekly social content, write captions, capture necessary imagery or videography, and post.

Execute rapid social media strategies to systematically increase follower counts across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Vimeo, and YouTube.

Daily development of high-quality, social-forward content tailored to different platforms, ensuring alignment with brand voice, marketing objectives, and business needs.

Monitor social media trends, viral audio, and platform algorithm changes daily to pivot content strategy for maximum reach and virality

Actively manage and nurture the online community; engage heavily in comment sections, respond to inquiries, spark conversations, and monitor customer reviews to foster brand loyalty

Keep a social calendar up to date with events, sales, partnership post, and remain flexible with snow

Rapid procurement of snow alert photos and video content to be shared in a timely fashion for both traditional and social media

Update and maintain the digital asset library and images for website integration and use across the business in Dropbox and A-Basin’s local network as both high- and low-res images ready for use

Identify, pitch, and execute high-engagement photo and video projects designed to drive brand awareness and viral sharing

Source, pitch, and manage relationships with regional and industry Athletes & Influencers to expand audience reach through collaborative content and takeovers while diversifying online content

Use, maintain, and update technical equipment (cameras, lenses, stabilizers, etc.) optimized for rapid social media content capture

Capture creative, brand-relevant footage across the mountain

Edit video in post-production, including the addition of special effects, graphics, trending audio, and captions to maximize viewer retention

Collaborate with Alterra Mountain Company to create content for Ikon Pass social channels. Become familiar with Ikon brand guidelines

Analyze social media metrics and growth KPIs monthly alongside Communications Manager and CRM Specialist to refine content tactics and prove ROI on audience growth

Suggest and implement new interactive platform features (e.g., broadcasts, polls, live streams) to develop brand awareness

Must be prepared to work weekends, shift schedules, and early/late shifts when necessary. Attend A-Basin events for content capture and event assistance

Follow all departmental sustainability guidelines

Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1 to 3 years of relevant experience in social media with a documented track record of growing organic audiences/communities

High-level photography and short-form videography skills tailored specifically for social platforms (TikTok, Reels, Shorts)

Proficiency in mobile editing apps and the Adobe Creative Cloud, including but not limited to: CapCut, Edits, Lightroom, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro

Strong, witty copywriting and editing skills with the ability to capture the A-Basin Vibe

Deep understanding of social media analytics tools and community management best practices

This position requires successful completion of an MVR background check.

Must be available weekends and holidays

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field - preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to withstand high-altitude conditions at all times

Ability to sit, stand, and navigate stairs

Ability to ski or snowboard at an expert level - preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position will split time between working indoors in an office setting while editing, analyzing metrics, and using a computer, and working outdoors in a high-alpine environment in all types of weather conditions to capture live content. Additionally, this position requires riding a chair lift and skiing/riding while safely carrying camera equipment.
