Corporate Affairs Director – Artificial Intelligence and Data
What you will do
In this vital role, you will lead strategic communications for Amgen’s Artificial Intelligence and Data organization, helping shape how Amgen communicates the role of AI, data, and advanced technology in advancing our mission to serve patients. Reporting to the Executive Director, Corporate Affairs, you will support Amgen’s Artificial Intelligence and Data organization and serve as a senior communications advisor to Artificial Intelligence and Data leaders. You will help translate the enterprise AI and Data narrative into integrated communications strategies, leadership materials, employee engagement plans, and external visibility opportunities that strengthen understanding, engagement, adoption, and awareness of Amgen’s AI and Data priorities. This role will support the development and activation of the communications strategy for Amgen’s Artificial Intelligence and Data organization, working in close partnership with the Executive Director, Corporate Affairs, and AI and Data leaders to ensure messaging is clear, consistent, credible, and aligned with enterprise priorities. The Director will develop and guide enterprise-level communications materials, thought leadership plans, internal campaigns, and change communications that connect AI and Data initiatives to Amgen’s business strategy, scientific leadership, operational priorities, and patient impact. The Director will partner closely with Corporate Affairs colleagues, Artificial Intelligence and Data leaders, technology teams, business partners, legal, compliance, and other cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure communications are coordinated and effective.
Responsibilities
Develop clear, compelling, enterprise‑aligned storytelling for AI and Data vision, priorities, and impact.
Provide strategic communications counsel to AI and Data leaders, including messaging, positioning, engagement, and thought leadership.
Translate complex AI, data, and digital topics into accessible, credible communications for diverse audiences.
Lead integrated communications plans across internal and external channels aligned with enterprise priorities.
Oversee executive communications (talking points, presentations, Q&A, briefings, town halls, engagement materials).
Drive communications strategies to support AI tool awareness, adoption, and responsible use.
Partner cross‑functionally (change, HR, tech, training, business) to support AI initiatives and adoption.
Support external thought leadership and ensure messaging consistency across social media.
Anticipate and advise on reputational, legal, compliance, and stakeholder considerations.
Measure effectiveness and use insights to improve engagement, adoption, and clarity.
Lead complex, cross‑functional workstreams, including planning, alignment, timelines, and execution.
Manage agencies and cross‑functional teams to deliver integrated programs with clear outcomes.
Basic Qualifications
Doctorate degree and 4 years of public relations, corporate communications, marketing, technology communications, or other creative/content development experience.
Master’s degree and 7 years of public relations, corporate communications, marketing, technology communications, or other creative/content development experience.
Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of public relations, corporate communications, marketing, technology communications, or other creative/content development experience.
Preferred Qualifications
8+ years of experience in corporate communications, PR, marketing, or related fields; 5+ years in pharma, biotech, healthcare, tech, or life sciences.
Experience supporting communications for AI, data, digital transformation, innovation, or enterprise change initiatives.
Proven ability to advise senior leaders and develop strategies aligned to business priorities, engagement, and transformation.
Experience executing global communication programs in complex, matrixed organizations.
Strong skill in translating complex scientific, technical, and business topics into clear, compelling messaging.
Experience in executive visibility, thought leadership, internal and external campaigns, social media, and leader communications.
Proven cross‑functional partnership with change management, training, legal, compliance, technology, and business teams.
Strong judgment in communicating emerging technologies with credibility and balance.
Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and make sound decisions in fast‑paced environments.
Experience leading cross‑functional teams and agencies, with strong relationship‑building skills.
Demonstrated use of data and insights to measure and improve communication effectiveness.
