We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented
Packaging Copywriter
to develop compelling, concise, and consumer-focused content for retail product packaging across our consumer electronics product portfolio. This role is responsible for creating packaging copy that clearly communicates product features, benefits, specifications, and brand messaging while helping products stand out on retail shelves and online marketplaces.
The ideal candidate combines exceptional writing skills with the ability to simplify technical information into engaging, easy-to-understand messaging that drives purchasing decisions. This position works closely with Product Management, Packaging Design, Marketing, Regulatory, Sales and overseas manufacturing teams to ensure packaging content is accurate, compliant, and aligned with our brand.
Key Responsibilities
Retail Packaging Content Development
Write all consumer-facing copy for retail product packaging, including: Front panel headlines; Product feature callouts; Product Benefit statements; Side panel descriptions; Technical specifications; Package inserts; Quick-start guides; Warranty information; Instructional messaging; Safety and caution statements (in coordination with Regulatory); Translate complex technical features into clear consumer benefits; Ensure packaging content is concise, engaging, and optimized for limited package space.
Product Messaging
Develop consistent messaging that highlights key product differentiators.
Collaborate with Product Managers to understand product functionality and target customer needs.
Create feature hierarchies that prioritize the most compelling selling points.
Maintain a consistent brand voice across all product categories.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Packaging Designers to ensure copy integrates effectively with package layouts and graphics.
Partner with Marketing to align packaging messaging with advertising, websites, catalogs, and retail promotions.
Coordinate with Engineering and Product Development to verify technical accuracy.
Content Accuracy & Compliance
Verify product specifications, dimensions, compatibility, and certifications before publication.
Ensure packaging complies with retailer requirements and applicable regulations.
Maintain consistency across all packaging versions and product families.
Proofread all packaging artwork prior to production.
Product Launch Support
Develop packaging content for new product launches.
Update packaging copy for product revisions, new features, and packaging refreshes.
Meet production deadlines to support manufacturing schedules.
Assist with packaging copy prepared for translation into multiple languages.
Review translated content for consistency with original messaging.
Coordinate with translation vendors when required.
Content Management
Maintain approved copy libraries and messaging guidelines.
Organize version-controlled packaging copy for current and legacy products.
Assist in developing packaging style guides and writing standards.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Technical Writing, or a related field.
3–5 years of professional copywriting experience at a consumer products company, preferably consumer electronics.
Experience writing packaging, product marketing, or consumer product content.
Understands how to use AI as a strong sales, marketing and writing tool
Ability to communicate technical concepts in simple, consumer-friendly language.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred
Experience in consumer electronics or consumer packaged goods (CPG).
Familiarity with retail merchandising and packaging best practices.
Experience supporting Amazon, Walmart, Costco, Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowe's, or other major retailers.
Knowledge of consumer electronics terminology and regulatory labeling requirements.
Experience using AI-assisted writing tools while maintaining high editorial standards.
