Photographer’s Assistant

Role Description

This is a part‑time, on‑site Photographer’s Assistant role based in Rockville, MD, serving the DMV. The Photographer’s Assistant supports lead photographers during school and preschool picture days, helping set up and break down equipment, organize backdrops and props, and maintain a safe, tidy workspace. The role includes welcoming and guiding children and school staff, assisting with posing, and ensuring each session runs smoothly and on schedule. The Photographer’s Assistant may help with basic image review, file organization, and coordination with school personnel to support a seamless photography experience. Availability during school hours and the ability to lift and transport photography gear are important aspects of the day‑to‑day work.
Qualifications

Foundational Photography skills and an interest in portrait or school photography.
Strong Lighting skills, including assistance with studio lights, reflectors, and natural light setups.
Image Editing and Photo Retouching skills at a basic to intermediate level.
Clear and professional Communication skills for interacting with children, school staff, and team members.
Reliable transportation to Rockville, MD school locations and the ability to handle equipment setup and breakdown.
Ability to work with children in a patient, friendly, and respectful manner, maintaining a calm, professional presence.
Strong attention to detail, punctuality, and ability to follow established workflows and safety guidelines.
Previous experience assisting photographers, working in schools, or in customer‑facing roles is beneficial.
