Roles and Responsibilities
The Video Editor will execute video content for marketing campaigns, training videos, social media, documentaries, and other media for government agencies across New York State. The role involves brainstorming creative concepts, editing projects, mixing audio, selecting soundbites, and creating impactful content. The editor will manage workload assigned by producers or creative directors and maintain high standards of production quality.
Responsibilities
Plan, manage, and edit video projects from conception to final export.
Mix audio tracks, select soundbites, and integrate voiceovers.
Apply post‑production techniques, color correction, motion graphics, and VFX to enhance storytelling.
Collaborate with producers, designers, and subject experts to refine storylines.
Prioritize multiple projects and respond to feedback efficiently.
Maintain a strong focus on detail and organization throughout the creative process.
Qualifications
Minimum six (6) years of video editing experience in national or local network, cable news, commercial media, or marketing communications. College study may substitute up to four years.
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator).
Strong knowledge of social media platforms and their strategic use.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
Bachelor’s degree in production, communications, digital media, marketing, or a related field.
Ability to edit scripted and documentary‑style content, work with interviews, and craft engaging storylines.
Ability to adapt to new workflows, prioritize tasks, and work toward shared goals.
Preferred Qualifications
Five (5) or more years of direct video editing experience.
Experience creating content for social media with strategic intent.
Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
Experience with light motion graphics and VFX.
