UIL Media Relations Coordinator
The University Interscholastic League (UIL) is the governing body for interscholastic activities and competitions for its member schools in Texas. It is the largest inter-school organization of its kind in the world, offering academic, athletic and music extracurricular activities. This position provides operational and day‑to‑day support to the UIL Media department and assists with event duties.
Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day support for the UIL media department including monitoring and responding to emails and social media messages, assisting with file organization, spreadsheet maintenance and UIL digital assets and information.
Assist with preparation for UIL events: processing media credential requests, monitoring and maintaining production deadlines, updating creative materials and marketing assets.
Work collaboratively with UIL media department team members to support UIL social media efforts: content outlines, asset gathering, scheduling, and performance tracking.
Assist UIL staff to promote positive and accurate coverage of UIL events and initiatives.
Perform basic informational updates and graphics for UIL digital assets and social media platforms using Canva and Adobe; assist with drafting official UIL communications as needed.
Attend UIL state championship events and relevant meetings as assigned. Assist the UIL media team at UIL events: distribute credentials, facilitate media accommodations and promote a positive environment for participants, media and the public.
Occasional travel, evening, weekends and holiday work is required.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
Previous work‑related experience with clerical functions and coordinating events.
Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and collaborate with a team.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
One to five years of experience in event coordination and planning.
First‑hand knowledge of UIL and UIL events.
Experience with media relations and sports information duties.
Experience using Canva or Adobe software.
Driving Requirement
This job requires a class “C” operator’s driver’s license. Applicants must provide a current three‑year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver’s license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre‑employment, post‑accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return‑to‑duty, and follow‑up drug and alcohol testing).
Salary Range
$52,000 plus depending on qualifications.
Working Conditions
Standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Manual dexterity. Occasional evening, weekends and holiday work is required. Occasional travel is required.
