Overview
Senior Relationship Manager – Director (Commercial Sales & Service). The role drives new client acquisition and market‑share growth in the middle‑market segment ($50MM–$5B revenue) across the Food, Engineering & Construction, Technology, and Health Care sectors in the SanFrancisco Bay Area.
Responsibilities
Lead new client acquisition and deepen existing relationships across all industry verticals.
Leverage an extensive local network and existing client base to generate profitable business opportunities.
Serve as the primary client advocate for high‑value, complex deals, overseeing credit approvals, pricing coordination, and deal structuring.
Manage a portfolio of high‑value clients, driving cross‑selling, retention, profitability, and transition of opportunities into revenue‑generating sales.
Develop and execute integrated BMO One Client strategies across Wealth, Retail, Small Business, and Capital Markets lines of business.
Represent the bank at industry forums, conferences, and to senior leadership, providing strategic insights and market intelligence.
Escalate and resolve complex client issues, applying strategic problem‑solving and rigorous compliance oversight.
Collaborate with Portfolio Management, Treasury Product Services, and other product and support partners to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
Analyze market trends, client developments, and competitive positioning to inform client solution strategies and optimize client satisfaction.
Prepare and deliver performance, market, and strategic reports to bank leadership.
Implement change initiatives in response to shifting market trends and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
10+ years in Relationship Management, Account Management, or Portfolio Management within a corporate or similar segmented banking environment.
Demonstrated sales metrics and a track record of revenue generation from sales and syndications.
Bachelor’s degree required; degrees in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting preferred.
Experience in leveraged lending and financial sponsor coverage is prioritized.
Credit qualifications and knowledge of credit approval processes are required for credit‑qualifiable roles.
Strong local BayArea network and ability to build long‑term client relationships.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
Understanding of regulatory compliance, internal controls, and risk mitigation in relationship management.
Salary and Compensation
$122,400–$228,000 per year, salaried. Compensation may include a commission structure, performance‑based incentives, discretionary bonuses, and other perks. Salary varies based on location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications.
