KUSA 9NEWS in Denver, Colorado is seeking a dynamic, experienced Morning News Anchor to join our top-rated morning team. As a trusted voice in the community, our ideal candidate is a strong journalist, skilled communicator, and engaging storyteller who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving news environment. This role goes beyond reading the news—it's about driving the day’s conversation, connecting with viewers across platforms, and bringing energy, authenticity, and warmth to our morning newscasts.
Responsibilities Anchor weekday morning newscasts and contribute to news segments across platforms
Collaborate closely with producers, reporters, meteorologists, and photojournalists to create high-impact, engaging content
Write, edit, and fact‑check scripts that uphold 9NEWS’s commitment to accuracy, clarity, and community relevance
Lead and participate in live interviews, breaking news, and developing stories in‑studio and in the field
Engage actively with our audience through social media, digital platforms, and station-sponsored community events
Serve as a newsroom leader, helping shape the tone, content, and storytelling approach of the morning show
Represent 9NEWS with professionalism and journalistic integrity at all times
Participate in community events as requested
Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field
Minimum 3 years of anchoring experience in a competitive news market
Proven ability to handle breaking news and unscripted moments with poise and accuracy
Outstanding writing, storytelling, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong on‑camera presence and comfort with live reporting
Experience using newsroom tools like ENPS, video editing software, and digital CMS
Passion for local journalism and deep interest in the Denver community
Willingness to work early morning hours, holidays, and occasional extended shifts
3‑5 years experience anchoring a morning show in a mid‑to‑large market
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
Demonstrated success building a personal brand and audience on social media
Salary & Benefits Salary : $150,000 – $165,000
