Public Relations Strategist (Contract)

NOTE: This is a temporary position, ranging from 6 to 12 months in duration. It has a hybrid schedule, with a minimum of one day per week on site and additional in‑office days as needed. Candidates must be within driving distance of SIE Headquarters in San Mateo. Applications from fully remote candidates will still be considered.

The Public Relations Strategist will work across PlayStation’s software portfolio, helping to execute product launches and events and supporting the department’s daily activities. As a key contributor to the software publicity team, this individual will help tell impactful stories across gaming and consumer media for one of the world’s leading entertainment companies. The ideal candidate has a passion for media relations, excellent writing skills and a strong attention to detail. They thrive on collaboration and are eager to gain experience on a dynamic, fast‑paced team.

Responsibilities

Support global PR efforts for PlayStation’s exclusive games, working with PlayStation Studios, development partners, and cross‑functional collaborators to deliver positive results and measurable media return on investment.

Manage and execute key tactics such as media outreach, messaging development, event coordination, speaking opportunities, coverage reporting, and asset distribution.

Develop written materials to support game launches, including press releases, fact sheets, messaging/Q&A briefings, briefing materials, and related assets.

Collaborate with the broader SIE Communications team, including platforms, services, corporate, and social media, to contribute to broader brand narratives and initiatives for both external and internal audiences.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years’ public relations experience, ideally working with consumer‑facing brands or products.

Experience managing projects and the ability to work collaboratively with others across a large global organization.

Strong media relations experience with outlets across consumer, technology, and business press.

Ability to handle multiple projects and work effectively across a large distributed team environment.

Experience working for or with an external PR agency is preferred; in‑house PR experience is a plus.

Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and interpersonal.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, Slack, and AI tools like ChatGPT and Copilot.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below, this is an hourly rate.

$65 — $70 USD
