The University of Plymouth is seeking an inspiring and innovative Lecturer in Digital Media to join our vibrant School of Art, Design and Architecture. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic, practice-led learning environment and help develop the next generation of creative media professionals.
As part of our established Creative Media portfolio, you will play a key role in the development and delivery of our new BA (Hons) Digital Media & Content Creation programme , bringing expertise in immersive media, emerging technologies and contemporary content creation practices.
About the Role
Working closely with colleagues across Digital Arts, Creative Media and Plymouth Business School, you will:
Deliver engaging, practice-led and research-informed teaching across undergraduate programmes.
Develop innovative curriculum content in areas such as:
Immersive and experiential storytelling
Digital content creation
XR and virtual production
Creator economy and platform entrepreneurship
Audience engagement and media futures
Data-informed content development
Build industry partnerships, live briefs and placement opportunities that enhance student employability.
Contribute to assessment, personal tutoring, recruitment activities, quality assurance and programme development.
Support interdisciplinary collaboration across the Faculty and wider University.
What We’re Looking For
You will have:
A PhD (or equivalent professional experience) in a relevant field such as immersive storytelling, narrative design, XR, virtual production, digital content creation or entrepreneurship.
Research, industry or practice-based experience within contemporary digital media.
Experience of teaching in Higher Education, or clear evidence of strong pedagogic potential.
A collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to creative education.
Knowledge of emerging technologies, ethical innovation and contemporary issues including AI, intellectual property and responsible media practice.
Desirable
HE teaching qualification or HEA Fellowship (or willingness to obtain within two years).
Experience leading modules or programmes.
Knowledge of creator economy business models and audience development strategies.
Experience with analytics, optimisation and algorithm-aware content design.
International teaching or industry experience.
